Ok I know this isn't in brakes! But it's more cosmetic so I figured it would fit better in exterior. So my question is, what ya guys and gals think? I saw it on a supra and I really liked it. But is it cheesy? Passé? Ricey? Old school? I know it's more of a show thing, and probably super hard to keep clean and shiney. But just throwing it out there.
Brake upgrades belong in the brakes section, so thread moved....
I for one am not a fan of painting the non-Brembo brakes any color other than the stock silver.

I've "polished" my sock calipers a bit using a series of wire brushes.
It does "silver" them up a bit.To really polish them like I did with my plenum, you'd
have to take e'm off to do correctly.
Please,no paint!

Found this in a random thread, check out the BBK Thread, it might be in there as well...
With a wheel with a nice polished lip, IMO these would look badass.

Pretty sure those were chrome plated, a member in GA (ATL G35, Kevin I think) had a set and even then he had said they were pretty hard to keep clean. Polished calipers would be 10x harder to keep looking good, between the heat, brake dust, road dirt and any random fluids on the street.... no thanks.

I have the stock base calipers, but the plan is for akebonos. But that above^ :0! It'll be awhile before I get them, and before people go there's better stuff; the akebonos are bout the same as brembos price wise. I'm not tracking it minus a now and then drag strip. And I've done the bbk kit, and I hate either having extra pads on hand or hoping wherever you get your pads have them in stock or can get them too you if you need them. It's not a big deal, usually. Just a gripe, but I'd like to be able to pick up pads at the local parts store. Gripe over, and statement that pic above is dead sexy.

I unno, I would say on a 350Z forum that Akebonos are considered a BBK? So his post was a bit confusing. So I was really just reinforcing the idea that either Akebonos or Brembos will alleviate that problem.
Additionally, and this is for OP, I think you can find Brembos for a lot cheaper than Akebonos. Once all said and done I paid about $2000 for a used set of Akebonos (I did get nailed shipping to Canada from US) when I have seen local sales of full Brembo kits for around and under $1500.
