Tein Flex.... clunking AGAIN!
I've had the Tein Flex coil overs installed for about 2000 km.
First the front end was clunking and indeed it was found that a sway bar had come loose (was improperly torqued at instl.)
All was quiet.
I had the rear dampening adjusted and the rear coil overs adjusted to lower the rear slightly.
Now the rear driver side is rattling like something is loose and it's getting worse, sounds like the wheel is going to fly off.
Is it really that complicated to get this install right or is the set up prone to working itself loose?

The first generation of the flex suspension is indeed prone to this particular problem. Tien customer service will not help. Get used to retightening that bolt. Mine goes back to the shop at the end of this month for some other work, and we're going to attempt to solve the problem. Will post if any success. Good luck.

I've asked my dealership to take a look, but they seemed stunned by the 19" rims I have, so my confidence is low.
Kshep, you are right, perhaps what is needed is a retro fit to change the type of nuts and bolts used in the instl. Perhaps "Nylock" self locking nuts would be a good idea, or application of Lok-tight thread lock solution might work.
Thanks

Thread fastener does the trick. Mine was like that at first, they added a little bit of the liquid thread fastener and it hasn't come loose since. 13k + miles, a track event and about 25 autocrosses and no problems.

I think I am having the same problem with my Tein Flex so thanks for the tip. Mine has been clunking for a while, is this dangerous to drive the car around? Been too busy to take it to my shop.

Clunking is fixed.... culprit was loose lower bolt on the rear shock. Points to poor job of tightening on the last adjustment made as both sides were changed and only one came loose. And the noise started the very next day.
Possibility of the hole in the shock now being oval, there was no damage to the bolt.
Had all bolts retorqued just in case. Will see how long it lasts.
Silence is golden.
