Canadians buying 2005 350Z in the USA
I decided to buy a Black 2005 350Z Base Model and since we don't have them here in Canada. I could care less about a warrantee since I will be spending tons of money in mods.
I know the procedures involved since I imported my last car from California a few years back but I have never tried to import a brand new car from a dealer.
Would US dealers even sell me a car knowing I will be importing into Canada? I live in Ottawa Ontario so I would need to buy from a dealer close to the border in NY or Vermont to keep the price of shipping low.
Also I will be buying this car cash to keep things simple.
Any help is greatly appreciated

I know that TOYOTA dealers are forbidded to sell a new car IF they know you're taking the vehicle over seas full time. I think the rule is you have to keep the car registered in the united states for 6 months. (for Toyota, that's a function of the manufacterer's choice to control national supply etc)
Omer.
Omer.
and Nissan told me that it comes down to warranty. The dealers won't honour the warranty for 12 months after cross- border registration.
When I asked why, they told me it was to discourage people from purchasing the cars at a "lesser price" and reselling them at a profit "elsewhere".
I hope that helps

I dont even care about the warrantee. It will be void the first week so there is no point in buying it here in Canada.
Also I need the base model since almost everything will be replaced anyways. No point in buying the Performance or Track Pack.

On a business trip years ago in Vermont I was at a dealership checking out the new Volvo v40 which wasn't in Canada yet (man, was literally was years ago eh?). The sales man was more than happy to sell me a new car stating that quite a few Canadians have purchase from them already.
Since the car is available in both countries, I think the biggest issue for importing is getting day time running lights and kph speedo - if they're not already in place on US models.
Probably the biggest thing you'll be missing with a base is a lack of side aribags, VDC, and LSD. The LSD is marginal at best and based on you interest of quick times, you'll be much better off with aftermarket. However, the VDC is useful - I use it *everyday* during the winter but it's also handy during the summer in wet conditions. I also believe in airbags as an investing in one's safety especially in a low sports car where you can be the consequence of someone else's mistake.
Good luck with you purchase. Have you seen a black Zed up close yet? My buddy has one and lives in the Huntclub/Prince of Wales area. You might want to meet him. His car has been Stillen'd and he claims to have a high 12 second timeslip from Luskville this summer and a couple low 13s (trap was ~106MPH I think).
There's another black Zed a block or two west of the canal and south of the Pretoria bridge (across the road from Phat Moose Cycles).

Thanks for the feedback FritzMan.
I could care less about the LSD since I will be getting the nismo or ATS carbon lsd. The VDC is something I am not sure about thou. I had traction control on my 01 mustang gt and I always found myself turning it off.. lol
After I am done with this project I should be the quickest Z in town.

Quickest going straight... I won't doubt it!
But I'll have something to say about the quickest 350 when handling is the priority.
FYI, another Brickyard owner in Barrhaven is getting a TT bolted onto his 350 sometime over the winter as well.
As for VDC, it's hardly needed in the summer when I'm sure you'll be driving yours the most. However, with you power expectations it would be a nice feature to have so that you can casually drive the car without having to be fully consious of the power biting you in the @ss.
