Default Buying an 06 350Z

I am thinking about ordering it online, because I herd that you can get a better deal. Is this true? Also were is a good place to order it from, the model is Enthusiast MT and the color is Le Mans Sunset or Baytona Blue. Any help would be great

The best price negotiations are when:

The car is on the lot.
You’ve done your homework and are face-to-face with a salesperson.
You have money in your pocket.

Not necessarily true, often the "internet managers" have the best price to offer compared to the floor room salespeople.

Alternatively, you could do what I did and sign up with costcoauto.com
which will probably get you the best price available to mere mortals.

Totally agree. If you haven't done it before, try it out. Go to edmunds and check the invoice price then submit for online info and you will have every dealers internet guy emailing you, then you can play them against each other and get the best price without having to go in there.

Edmunds has made the new car buying process much easier for the consumer. Well I should say made information more easily available, dealing with the clowns is still lame as ever

+1. costco=invoice+400

Were you able to get them any lower than that once you told them about the costo discount? I heard that it was a no-haggling price.

Your wrong about the car being on the lot being an advantage. As a former car salesman I've seen deals head south because of that. I had a buyer that was ready to purchase but the manager shot it down because he thought he could get an extra 400-500 dollars from someone else. If the car hasn't even been built yet, that's not a problem. He can agree and make a little money or he can disagree and make nothing. You are the only buyer when you order but have to compete with others on the lots.

Both theories make sense, but I have to side with davidv on this one. Every month the car is on the lot, its costing the dealer money. They want to move the cars as quick as possible. Do you really think they want to risk having left over models on the lot? I dont think they would pass up on a sale in order to hope to make a few hundred more from someone else. If nothing else, sell you the car for a little less, and still make the sell to the next person.

depends on the car and the days supply. these arent chevy's and ford's there are a few models in nissan's lineup that are really tough to get.

Most of these lots aren't financing the cars when they buy them from Nissan, and therefore cost them no extra money to keep on the lot. Even the guy who washes the vehicles gets a flat rate.

incorrect. Most dealers floorplan their cars, if you arent in the industry there is no point in trying to analyze how it works IMO. Just figure a fair price and pay it.

I was in the industry so I know what I'm talking about. I don't know where you are, but out here most lots own the cars 100%. Most are also self insured.

It does cost them money to keep them on the lots, because they are not selling the cars, thus they are not making money. As a dealership, you want to keep moving your inventory, the more cars you can sell, the more money you make. And because they do pay insurance on the vehicles that are on the lot, every car that is left on the lot month after month after month, is costing them money.

you need to check your facts. most new car stores floor plan their inventory. usually dealers are not liquid enough or WANT to purchase 3-4 million in new car inventory, although i know a few guys personally that have paid off floor plans in spite. To tie up that much operating capital is not common practice in the autp industry. Most dealers do own the used inventory outright however since there is no such thing as floor plan assistance on those vehicles.

Default "Costco" price

My wife and I recently purchased a Nissan. We went to the dealer asking for the "Costco" price, and the salesperson basically would not tell us the price. We wasted time tossing payment numbers around, but never would the salesperson ever reveal the "Costco" price. What BS. The entire point was to avoid haggling, but in the end, we had to put up with a lot of bull****. They also gave us false information, telling us that the Costco program does not apply to leases, but we later learned it does.

That is BS I got mine for 250 over invoice and the dealer throw in the floor mat, truck mat, perma plate, wheel locks, and the next services for free.
