Default 350z..G35C..or pass on both?

Well, here's the deal.
Thinking of getting one of these, but dont know which one yet. Sure Z has more power and sportier and only 2 seater, but G35C looks/feels better and has luxury options (and center dashboard doesnt look as retarded as Zs...sorry)

Now my questions are: Whats cheapter to fix in the long run? Is 20K, 30K, 40K alot for any of these cars? (prolly not, i drive 98 maxima right now and at 100K its running strong) How much repairs will cost for 350Z? G35C? Since Z has lots of different models (track/enth/touring/etc) will that increase repair by much?

What about insurance? I'm 22+ - driving since 18, clean record, live in sunny state of Cali

I'm not planing on modding my new car, maybe just few cosmetic details, so no mod tips required (ty)

What holds the better price in the long run? Any specific years I should go for (used)

Thanks

PS: for all the rich kids with $ on these forums who want to get 350z or G35C...first drive some ****ty car (like Ford LTD '84), you'll appreciate and love your new car more.

If you're concerned about the luxury....then straight up get the G35c.
You'll be happier down the line since you even considered it.

Repair and maintenance is about the same give or take a few bucks. You'll get better service at infiniti. Insurance? For some, it's cheaper on the G35c...

Good luck with your new car.

These two cars are virtually identical under the skin. If you consider the warranty for the G35 is one year longer, maintenance costs might be lower at first, but like 99% of the mechanical parts are all the same so maintenance costs should be similar. Before I bought the Z, I also looked at G35Cs, and even priced insurance. The difference was $2 over six months, so they basically cost the same to insure.

People have complained about 03 Zs, but I feel the problems are minor and all fixed under warranty by your local dealership. If you buy an 03 model Z, just ensure all the warranty work has been done on it. I love mine.

Go for the HYUNDAI or the KIA....you'll be better off in the long run.
Cheaper repairs, low insurance, low car payments.

Not too bad considering your age. Did you shop around? I pay about 25% of that, but I'm 40.

kriskin, you only pay 100+ or 300+ for your insurance? o.O

Here's the question.
You pay tax when you buy a car, which is 8.25% where I live (cali). Now, if I were to go to Nevada or Arizona or some other state near me, and buy car there but then register it in home state, will I have to pay tax? Oregon doesnt have state tax at all (if i remember correclty). Basicaly question is: how can i buy a car w/out paying any (or alot) tax? Is it possible at all?

First of all, in performance, they're basically identical. 2 more hp from the Z isnt anything significant. You cant go wrong with any choice, they are both awsome cars and not to mention a bargain compared to its competitors. The G will cost you a bit more, well not unless you get a Z fully loaded, then in that case it would equal the price of a fully loaded G (not counting the roadster, since the G doesnt have a convertible version). If your looking for Luxury + sporty look, then you dont even have to think about; get a G. If you want just the sporty look, then the obvious choice is the Z.

I personally prefer the G for its curves and luxury (and extra seats). But like i said before both are great cars, so good luck!

Since the G sounds like your car, i'd say get the 06 for sure (and 6mt if you can drive stick). It basically gives you 300 hp and the 06 has better headlights than the 03-05 G's. The 06 also has updated taillights, but nothing that different (just the reverse light changed). IF money isnt an issue, this is what i recommend:

2006 G35c 6MT
Premium Package

It should come out to around 37,000 (without tax). An addition of a navigation system should bump that up to almost 40k (ouch!).

Hope i helped

I pay $248 every six months for full coverage.

Another question:

Is it possible to make full insurance in my dads name, but for me to drive the car most of the time?

Yes.

What the hell are the cops going to do when you get pulled over?

"Um we're going to give you a lie detector test to see if this is your car."

As far as everyone else is concerned, you borrowed it.

actually it IS more than my car payment. I'm secondary on the insurance as well, im not even primary. I think its 3500 every 6 months for secondary on the Z and secondary on the Maxima.

He could insure it with full coverage, but he will still need to list you as a driver. The only way you could get away with this is say you're a part time driver if they allow it. His rates would go up , but probably not as high as what yours will be on your own. Additionally, he will probably need to put the car in his name (registered/titled).
