Default Where can I test drive and buy a 2006 Track

Hello all,
I am new to this forum. I am looking to buy a 350Z Track in Red, blue or maybe orange or black. I can't find a dealer in the radius of 100 miles around Boston, MA that has one. ?????
The dealers are all rather difficult to deal with. Can you guys help to find one and what would be a realistic price to look for?
I hope this car is better than the Company selling it. Or should I just look for some other hot looking car?

Thanks for all your help.

I would just go test drive a Z or two that they have on their lot. They all drive pretty much the same.

Then, if you like it, have them order you a Track model.

I have driven and tracked the track model.
To be perfectly honest. The extra money you throw into buying that upgrade, it's not worth it. The tracking wasn't smooth, the brakes faded within 15 minutes of the open session- thats pretty terrible if you ask me. The suspension is definitely a plus.

I woudl save the money and buy the next model down (touring?) and use that money to buy a monoblock 4 piston brake kit and track tires.

Cheers,
Allen

Err... There are owners here that regularly track their Track model Zs and feel the Brembos are just fine (though an aftermarket BBK would be better) and there are no differences in the Track model's suspension to any of the other models (except perhaps in '03, but I have yet to see any difinitive evidence of that).

To the original poster: Yeah, go test drive any Z, then order what you want or have them locate the car and ship it in. If you really want to track the car, the above advice is not bad; you can deffinitely build up a more track worthy car by buying a lower model and upgrading components, but if you just want the Brembos and the new Rays rims, the Track model is cool (I have an '03 Track). Also check out the Grand Touring model; you get everything the Track model has plus leather, Bose stereo and option for Nav system.

Thanks for the advise. But I doubt I can get the 19" rims that look great and the brakes for the same money. Or could I? I don't want the Grand Touring as the extras are pricy and add weight. I rather reduce the weight more to get this hot car even hotter. But I am open for any advise.
Dealers didn't want to locate one and quoted me prices even above sticker.
If you see one in your area and I can get a good price, I would be willing to get it there and either drive it home or get it shipped.

I checked the Nissan website and looked through every dealers inventory in 100 miles around my ZIP. very tiring. I can't believe you can't search for a specific set up and it shows the dealers in the whole USA with distance from my ZIP. Dealers weren't willing to locate one for me without me ordering it. I am getting so turned off on this car. I drove a 05, it feels great. But I want to make sure that the car I get is really perfect for me. 30-35K is a lot of money.

What a pain. Those dealers must be idiots to not try to help you find an 06 Track. Bummer.

Maybe Autotrader.com has a local one that you can take a look at.

Try going into the Nissan site and changing cities & do 100 mile seaches around the different cities. When I bought mine I looked through at least half of ALL dealers in Cali.

Even then I had to upgrade from Enthusiast to Performance to get color (Brickyard) and no spoiler combo I wanted. I finally found my Z at a dealer 300 miles away. Called my broker who called the dealer to make the purchase. But I've been sooooooooooo happy with the Brick I'm glad I put the effort in.

Well, you actually could... An Enthusiast Model is 5K less than a track (maybe more, as you might be able to get a better deal on a more common model). You can get a sweet set of 19" Volks with tires for around 3k, sell your stockers for $1k and have 3k left for a big brake kit. You'll have better components for the same money; it's just more work for you. The only diff. is that the Enthusiast just has TCS, where the Track has VDC, but if you want a real track worthy performance car, you wouldn't care about the VDC; TCS is good enough for what it does. I think the Enthusiast is a bit lighter, too.

I love my '03 Track, but I got it used for a really god deal. If I knew I was going to be modding and was going to buy new, I'd buy the lower model and build it up. If you don't plan on modding much and just want the best package for what you want right out of the box, then go for the Track.

Nissanusa is about the only recourse for a self search. And if dealers are not updating their inventory with Nissanusa, then the search results are in error. I’m surprised that your local dealer isn't more helpful. The dealer should be able to...

locate the car for you
negotiate the price
sign the paperwork
have the car at the dealership in a day or two ready for you to drive away.

I'm looking for a track model right now too. The first 3 dealers I went to here in Northern VA did not have any...

There is no way in hell you will get 1k for your stock rims on a Z. They are a dime a dozen and an enthusiasts is even less in demand. They may be WORTH that much but no one cares when it comes time for resale. I was laughed at when i attempted to sell near perfect for $500.

I would go with the enthusiast to be honest. I bought one knowing the minimum I wanted came in that trim with the ambition to mod. It has the nice perks in the HIDS and Homelink mirror plus of course VDC.

p.s. i'm really surprised they dont have these stocked at your dealers. That's not a good sign for getting a good deal. At this point overpaying ( paying anywhere close to msrp ) for a Z is just wrong. They may give you that "it's in demand bs" but even in 03 I was able to talk down 1k off the msrp when they couldnt keep them on the lot. Same goes for my 04.
