Default 350Z enthusiast--worth it to upgrade for the vdc?

Hello all, new here
I've been looking to buy a Z, test drove one yesterday and I'm pretty much sold on the car (06 enthusiast w/ c.3000 miles) but my dad brought up the issue of stability control, the vdc
I live in CT and this is going to be my daily driver. I've seen posts on here that seemed, for the most part, to state that the Z is a fine daily driver, even when snow is concerned as long as snow tires are used and the car is not driven like it' on the racetrack, but I was wondering if I should, because of my location, upgrade to the touring so I can get the vdc?

I think you are going about this the wrong way. Buying a performance sports car, then trying to get it to do something that it was not designed for, that is, driving in the snow.

Wheels and snow tires will run you about $1,200. For $1,200 you can buy a winter beater.

Winter beaters also cost some $ for insurance and will usually need winter tires as well

That being said, I do not think you should 'upgrade'

If you are in an area that gets snow, yes it would be worth it...it helps out a ton.

From what i can tell all VDC does is cut my throttle when it slides. The roads here have been perfect (as good as Edmonton roads get) yet today we got hit with a freak snow storm. Some pretty bad roads.

Having to drive home i was ALL OVER the place. Every other car on the road was crusing along fine. I could barely even get moving at a light and when i did it was nothing but a SLIP light disco on the dash.

I saw a few Z's in winter in my area. I have to ask.. HOW?. It was by far the sketchiest, worste car i've driven on snow. My 400whp GTS-T skyline was WAY better. Neither are going to be good. There not made for the condition. But man the Z sucked.

Insurance is less (500 less for 6 mo) for me when I have a 2nd car added along with the Z.
