I wish. I'm selling my perfect 2900 mile 07 Base for $24K firm. I know once it hits autotrader, it'll go in a week, but on here, not yet. No one is going to pay near $27k for a 07 base. You can get a new 08 Base for that.

if your building it anyways, it dont matter wich year you buy..04++. you might be better off getting an 04-06 base model for 14-18k change out the lsd with an aftermarket one and build your motor away. then you have the choice of single turbo with supra like hp highway monster. or tt it for an awsome track setup.
as for the hr motors not to be biased but its going to lack on aftermarket. and for the people that say greddy is going to have a tt kit for it .. yes thats a given... but consider ecu, install, and components u looking at well over 10k in mods just to have a "stock" hr turbo engine wich we dont know how its going to hold with boost yet. for about 6k you can get a built motor from kyle (http://www.importpartspro.com/st2vqloblni3.html) and a powerlab or greddy tt kit for about the same price and your looking at 550+whp reliably all day everyday. even the turbonetics kit broke the 500+whp and u can find one on these forums used for about 2500-4k$ with all the bells and whistles.

I put a link to it on this thread back a page or so. It's also easy to find in the cars for sale section, on the 1st page.

Sorry for jumping on this thread Cheez-it but I also have an Evo I'm thinking to trade for a Z. Mine is an 05 Evo 8 MR totally stock other than turbo timer with 15k miles. Was a Mitsi buy back from So Cal due to a driveshaft issue. I'm second owner (it had 3500 miles on when I had it).
I've seen an 04 Z with LSD and 12k on the clock for $21995. Mitsi claim my Evo is only worth $17k now and have managed to agree a $4k deal on the Z.
Is the Z WAY over priced? They all seem expensive in MN (other than the damaged ones from one Nissan dealer)
I really would like a Z to play with and eventually supercharge but not sure if I'm being done. What do you guys think?
Thanks

I'd love to but at $17k for mine, I would need to find an extra $7k rather than $4k.
Your car looks great and your not that far - I'm in Minneapolis but even so I'm sorry I can't streach to the extra! I'm sure you will sell yours in minutes on Autotrader!

Gotcha, but shouldn't an 05 MR be worth *way* more than $17K?!

^ Should be. My '06 GSR is worth a little over $24k. I'd say an '05 MR should be around $20k, maybe up to $21k.

Unfortunately because its a manufactures buy back, that's all Mitsi will give me as a trade otherwise bboypuertoroc, your right on the money!
Makes me unsure whether to swap or not but I get the swap car itch pretty much every year - not very wallet friendly but you have to spend it somewhere!
I'm guessing you think that the 04 is too expensive. Think I need to do a little more looking around and see what I can get for $21k
Will almost certainly have to be outside of the twin cities though.
Interested that you said you manged to give an Evo a run for it's money on the freeway. I'm a bit worried about the power drop in the Z but that makes me a little happier!

I see.

And 07/08 Z's are quite a bit faster than 03-05 Z's....think 4-5 mph trap faster.

I went direct to the Mitsi dealer and he offered me $18k there and then!
So my baby has gone.
Still that means there's space on the drive. Have seen some well priced 03 / 04 with FI posted though someone mentioned issues buying cars from the board. Anyone know anything about it?
Think I'm going to have to travel to get a good deal and ship the car up to the back of beyond (MN)
Just hope your not too right Z33 kid!... Thanks for the advice though.

I would have to say that you're off because according to both CarsDirect and USAA, they have a guaranteed price for a NEW 2008 base Z for below $27,000 so how you manage to say that a used 2007 base Z would cost the same boggles me. What you have to understand is that people "here" are more likely to overvalue their car. Used prices are always determined by the selling price of a new car. Obviously if you're saying a used 2007 base Z goes for $25-27 and we're getting hard info that a new 2008 base Z goes for below $27,000 someone has to be wrong.

Well just in case anyone else was in the same position as me (wondering if the swap from Evo to Z was the right one) for me it really was.
Yesterday afternoon on my drive home, I really gelled with the car.
It's not as quick but it makes a much better noise, people at work all say WOW will you take me for a ride in your car - it must be soooo fast (to which I have to be honest and say the last one was faster to which they normally reply 'really?')
The quality of the ride is superb compared to the MR Evo I had which would really chrash over the slightest imprefection. The quality feel of the car is pretty amazing too.
Downsides?
The cost of tuning is steep but there are bargins out there.
Winter has me worried (Z + snow = unwanted fun) but I have been told by the excellent support group here in MN that VDC and winter tires make it possible.
Other than that (and the door dent ding I got a few days ago ) I couldn't be happier with it!
