Hi Guys, im planning to move back to the import scene and have found a z that i really like.... i searched and am coming up short here. I am new to this forum so dont mind the questions....

i live in a rough city where traffic and streets are bad... so im looking to purchase an auto transmission... is there anything i should know about the auto trans..???

also, hows the maintenance on the car? expense wise, whats usually goes wrong, whats needs to be replace after so many years etc...

The best years for the Z are the '05, '07 & '08. They relatively have had no problems. There is a tire weathering problem for the '03 & '04 and engine problems with an adjusted engine in '06

the 04.5 isnt bad either its has virtually no problems being that nissan fixed them all. money wise you have to replace tires(depending on the tire can be pretty expensive and quite often), oil, and dont forget that 30,000 mile check up which can be done at quick car(however you spell it) for $150, instead of going to the dealer and them wanting $775.

please add to my list because im sure i left something out

I think the 06 oil consumption issue is only on MT's ,is that true?

Which is the better buy? The roadster is slightly slower. You need to decide if you want a coupe or a roadster. I can't really tell you which one is better because they are both fine.

well price wise i like the red one, but i like the roadster due to it being a roadster... also im taking issues into consideration... as stated above the 03 has more issues than the 05, someone please verify this and be more specific on issues so i will know what im in for if i buy 03 or either 05...

David is sarcastic, read more posts by him. He is just entertaining himself with a comment that will upset you :P

the 03 is at risk for tire feathering, but you can tell by looking at the tire (if they are new no such luck). I would suspect a Z with that kind of miles had it corrected by now if it ever had it.

other things to look out for are failing window motors. roll them up and down like ten times, see if ones struggling, if they are use that as a bargaining chip on the price becaus they are 250$ to replace, more or less if you DIY or stealership repair.

there are more .. and they've been discussed numerous times. I suggest searching around the forums a bit - you're buying a car, this is a big decision, and it warrents the hours put into research.

Any time AT Vs MT comes up, it brings out the most childess behavior of the group.

Personally, I'd go for the coup; looks better than vert and handles better. also more room for carrying things.

03's had problem with tire feathering but it can be fixed.

Whatever you buy, have it inspected by good mechanic before you write check.

I would choose miles rather than model year. In other words a 2003 with 30,000 miles is a better deal than a 2005 with 60,000.
