The 350z is a pretty durable car. I would look for the same things you would look for in any used car. As far as common problems, most people have trouble with the manual transmissions (even with relatively low miles). The interiors make a lot of squeaks and rattles. Besides that I would just look for one that seems to be well maintained and still pulls well. When I buy a used car I pay as much attention to who owned it as I do the car itself. Good luck

Watch for tire feathering and transmission issue. Best choose 05 model. If you decide on a convertible, inspect the top. They tend to tear after 2 years.
06 rev up model
Oil consumption issues
Watch for window motor and door handle issues as well.
Check and make sure the recall has been done.
As far as the rest goes...prowned car inspection will be the first step.

No, don't ignore it. Use the search feature so you don't start the millionth thread on a particular topic. If you are a noob, don't be offended, just do some searching before asking a broad question. Then come back with a more specific question. Makes the forum a better place.

Before you waste your time&others, what is your budget?
I am sure you don't have a blank check to write any amount.
A lot of good advice has already been given by forum members.
Besides budget, what type of driving do you do?What made
you get interested in a Z?As you have read in the comments,
there are two schools of thought on manual vs AT.Its possible
that you may be more comfortable driving a AT.When shopping
for a used Z,the transmission(MT)is without a doubt an area
that needs to be checked. You don't hear near as many reports
of problems with a pre-owned AT.There are "better" years for a
Z.some have already been pointed out.IMO,again bepending on your
budget and how you intend to use the car,a Touring model in stock
condition would be an ideal choice.
Good luck!

Anyways, I'm shocked no one here said check for frame damage

Best bet go with a mechanic to check it out or bring it to a mechanic to do a full inspection

Maybe, but probably not nearly as much as member SLOPOS's car hates him.
