There's no real need to apply any more Z2 or Z5 for 6 months or so, your paint is protected. Just wash with Z7 and maybe follow up with one of the finishers, Z6 or Z8.

However, if you decide you want to add more coats, it will look better and better with each coat. Play around with what looks best on your car, it depends on the color, really. I'd say at least one more of Z5 and then try a few layers of Z2 on top of each other.

+1. The more you apply the deaper the shine. I usually apply at least 1 coat (Z2 or Z5) every other wash & will apply 3 coats (usually at least one of those will be Z5) about every 6 weeks or so. I'm up to 31 coats & would have more if I had time.

 

if u layer a Z5, be sure to follow with Z2-pro

the optics in Z5 arent as good as Z2, so if u apply only Z5 onto ur million layered Z2, ull get a reduction in clarity

This young Jedi has a question for Dr Bonz. How do I use Zaino and have a clear Bra to protect my front bumper and hood? Florida is lousy with rock and sand trucks with no respect for anyones ride. They blast down the roads with minimal coverage on their loads and barely keep it between the lines. They always seem to be weaving just off the road and throwing up crap from the roadside. We do not believe in paved shoulders here so they go right into the weeds and sand and throw it at everyone behind them. I am seriously looking at clear bra to protect the front and I want to use Zaino for the great look it gives the car. Any tips?

 

I can answer that. Zaino and a clear bra are perfectly compatible. Hopefully you will get the clear bra before your front bumper, etc. are sandblasted. Then, apply Zaino to the paint and the clear bra as if it wasn't there. No problem.

Actually, after about 45 coats, rocks will bounce off the Zaino and no clear bra is needed.

i am a little confused about what to use.

i have a SB and spider-webbing and swirl is hurting my eyes.

if i understand correctly, i use coats of z5 to fill the swirl in, and finish with z2?

i really do not have space or time to use PC, so i was thinking about doing a coat of z5 every weekend to hide the swirl.

am i going the right direction?

Yes, IMHO you're going in the right direction. Before you start though, if your swirls & spiderwebs are really bad, it would be worthwhile to contact a good detailer and find out how much it would cost to knock them back with a buffer. It might be affordable and it would be a good long-term investment.

Second you may find that, especially after the first time or two, you can easily get more than one coat on each weekend. The way I look at it, a lot of the effort expended is getting the car good and clean so you can put on a coat. Why not spend an additional hour or so and put on two?

Third, those swirls didn't come from nowhere. If you didn't buy the car with them already on there you need to analyze your materials and methods. Throw away all your rags and towels and buy new, American made 100% cotton towels (or QUALITY microfiber). (Check FAQ on the Zaino site & here) Also, are you doing anything wrong, like rinsing your dirty wash rag in your wash water, or using dirty dry towels? If you don't fix this stuff you will be fighting a losing battle with yourself.

ill say my swirl is not too bad yet, but definately getting worse.

and yes. i will try as many coats as i can every time i do it. how long do i have to wait between each coat of Z-5?

i am using those blue MF towels i got from walmart. pretty good quality ill say. i picked the smoothest one i could find. and i wash them after every car wash. it looks dirty with stains and stuff, but i know they are pretty clean.

oh and also, how do i seal and protect the paint after i get successful result with z-5?

Check the FAQ on the Zaino website. If you're using ZFX, you need to wait no more than 15 minutes or so between removing one coat and applying the next. A coat of Z6 between them is recommended, it helps the next coat go on smoother.

If the swirls are getting worse, there is something wrong with your materials or your methods.

I bought my cotton towels from Walmart, making sure that I got one of the two brands recommended by Zaino (Cannon, I think). Maybe you should switch from MF to cotton.

Are you being very careful to rinse out your wash rag before you put it back into the wash water? If you don't do that it can be a big source of abrasives.

Z5 seals and protects the paint. Nothing else is necessary. Z2 can be used to make it even shinier.
