Default Polish (zaino) VS Wax (NXT)

quick quetsion regarding detailing.

From my experience and reading... Zaino is strictly a Car POLISH. Whereas products such as Meguire's NXT wax is a wax.
Each of these products are used for different things.

Now... heres the question.

I read about people using dawn to remove any form of wax that was on their car previously. After they do this, they go straight to the Zaino polishing.
So here we have bare paint (and clearcoat) with simple Zaino polish on top.
How wise is this?

Should the paint not be protected with a wax like nxt before polishing it?

Is there a flaw in using NXT and then zaino on top of it without using dawn to remove the NXT?

thanks in advance.

I think you have it backasswards, you normally polish to bring out the shine then put the wax on to protect the shine.

No, Zaino Z-2 or Z-5 is really a synthetic wax, Zaino Z-2 or Z-5 is not an abrasive polish. Z-2 or Z-5 is a final finish synthetic polymer wax.

Zaino will only bond to two things and two things only:

1. Bare Paint
2. Itself

Zaino will protect your paint better than ANY wax. Not only better but longer.

i had my car lightly cut by my mate who's a pro detailer, and we had a really hard time cutting through the Zaino. It took us a fair bit of productm, and worked all the way back to Farecla G3 before it started coming off the car

We then NXT'd another car, and we were able to get that off the paint with Farecla G10 (the lightest cutter) by hand

What is this "cutting" you speak off? Is it another word for sanding?

cutting is using an abbrassive polish to remove a very very fine layer of clear coat, to remove any scratches or swirls in the surface of the paint

i think its just a language thing bw US and AUS. We consider Zaino a sealant wax, and a polish to be something like 3M Perfect-It which has abbrassives in it
