There is a different between goo-gone and goo-off. Goo-gone is a mild petroleum based distillate. If the clearcoat is gone, you cannot put it back.

Check the detailing forum about two-part touch-up kit.

It won't rust but you won't have as much paint protection as before.

To everyone else that reads this thread - do NOT put Goof-Off on your paint. From the Valspar website:

Goof Off®

The Ultimate Remover for dried paint! This well-known solvent product removes dried paint as well as adhesive, sticker residue, gum, crayon,
tar, oil, marker, pen, lipstick, scuff marks, candle wax, grease and much more! Available in a wide variety of liquid sizes as well as a convenient aerosol.

Goo-Gone is what you use to remove adhesive or other sticky residue.

I just used rubbing alcohol and let it soak. Removed the left over sticky stuff. Then I washed it, claybar the area, and then waxed it. Looks great.

I wouldn't. Unless you know what you're doing, it probably won't match and it will look obvious that it's been touched up. Take it to a body shop.
