Default Honestly, carnuba wax is the best

Have you heard this too? Even after years and years of new wax products, space age polymers, yada yada Is carnuba wax really the best and the safest? Just wondering cause i bought that new meguires wax that is purple and green (i think) all i know is that it was like 20 bucks for a slim can of this stuff. I put it on, seems as good as the others. I trust meguires though, maybe thats there marketing system at work.

"best" is subjective. Carnauba is best in some situations but not best for all.

Carnauba is preferred by show car owners because it has a "deep" shine.

Polymers last longer and have a "bright" shine.

Honestly there is no best wax. I can give 5 350Z drivers each a bottle of the same wax. After waxing their cars, you will get 5 opinions varying for the best stuff I have ever used to this stuff sucks.

I like the Meguiars NXT the best, but carnuba waxes are good to use too. I like how they go on very easy and it's not difficult to get a good shine, but they don't typically last as long as something like Zaino.

I too have felt that Carnuba waxes were the best for the longest. Particularily Meguiars. There plain jane wax has preserved the shine on many of my cars for years. It's also great for buffing out minor scuffs and road tar. Recently I tried Zymol. I must say that it offers a really bright shine, and from what I've see the more you use it the shiner your vehicle gets. The same principle as kiwi shoe shine.

Carnuba is cheap and works well, but you have to apply quite often as it doesn't last very long

Not the Pinnacle Souveran Carnauba Wax I use. Definitely not cheap at all haha.. As for durability, they lost me like 3 weeks and the shine is gone.

Actually, carnuba wax is rare and extremely expensive stuff. Most car polishes have very small percentage of carnuba in them. However, just because it is expensive does not mean that you will like the results with carnuba based products. It is often hard to put on and hard to polish off. You can screw up using it and get a terrible mess.

I like to polish/seal (not wax) frequently. I use Nu finish. It contains no wax at all. Yes, its inexpensive. It also works great and lasts a long time.

I like to use polymers as a base and top it with a good carnuba. Both Mequirs

Pinnacle Souveran Carnauba Wax
Best I've seen on black (or red).

I've been using it for about six years now. I must have spent over $600 on the stuff.

I like the NXT. It gives a good shine and fast application. I can wax my car (by hand) in under an hour. Granted, doing such a quicky job doesn't last for more than a week or so, but by then the car has so much road trash on it that you couldn't tell it had been done in the first place.

Basically, I can wash and wax in under 2 hours, paying fairly decent attention to detail. We're not talking "for show" here, but to look good for Friday night, it does a fine job.

I've used everything from Zaino, Meguirs, P21S, Pinnacle, 3M products... and I rarely notice any real significant difference overall. I think the polymers do last longer and offer ALMOST as nice a shine as P21S carnuba wax (the pearl effect is slightly more noticable with the carnuba) and is much easier to use. I have been wanting to try the new NX stuff, but haven't finished what's remaining of my current supplies. Next will be Griot's garage as well. Overall, my favorites are the 3M polishes and P21S products just for ease of use.
