Has anyone used this with good results? I use zaino z2/z5 and love it, but would like to get the swirls outta my car before i wax and store it in a few weeks. Z-PC looks to be applied just like wax, and ill be doing this by hand. Any tips? Thanks.

 

Well I'm certainly no expert on the subject, I've read a lot about Z-PC and used it several times, in different applications, always applied by random orbital buffer. Overall I've been impressed with it, although it has a light "cut", so it's not going to remove really bad swirl marks in one pass.

Apply it by hand and it's considered "paint cleanser" which I take to mean it won't remove many swirls, it'll just remove surface contamination and give you a nice clean surface to begin stacking your Z-5 and Z-2 ontop of.

If I were going to apply it by hand, I'd use some muscle and really work it in, taking my time in each area, giving the abrasives time to do its thing. Use a 100% cotten microfiber applicator.

I'm going to try applying it by hand to see if it will help with my water spots before I begin adding many coats of Z-5 and Z-2 for the winter.

As Gunser points out, if you're going to try to remove swirls and do the whole car, you'd better get a Porter-Cable Polisher. You'd be looking at some serious self-abuse if you attempted to do it all by hand and you probably wouldn't get a top-notch consistant result.

 

You cant generate enough "cutting power" from your hands in order to cut the paint and remove the swirls.

swirl marks come from gunk oxidising on the paint causing it to swirl.

Go for the random orbital... practise first otherwise you will make it worse..
if you have another dark coloured car try that first before u tackle the Z.

I used it with my crafstman orbital (yeah, I know), and it did a nice job. I had some SERIOUS swirls from a terrible body shop that wrecked my paint. It made a noticable difference with a single application but I think I'd have to clay and do it 1-2 more times then follow up with multiple coats of Z-2 to get it looking how I want it.

 

I just got some and started using it last weekend. I recently went on a road trip to Nevada and got some horrible water spots all over and they got baked in. So just decided to get the Z-PC and use it for the H2O spots, they were bad. Were, because now they are gone. I did it all by hand and the spots all came out without too much effort, mostly. Where there were some very fine scratches I managed to get some of those out to, a bonus by hand. I still have some work to do this weekend. Finish some more with Z-PC and then polish. Another thing is that the headlights were real mucky. Kind of a foggy build up on them. I thought most of that was on the inside of the light covers. But i took the Z-PC to them and to my surprise it was all on the outside. The headlights looked like new after just a few minutes. Real bright and sparkly. That really made my day.

 

I did a couple spots on my hood Friday evening by hand. There is no way on earth I would attempt to do a whole car by hand. Like any abrasive polish, you have to really "work it" for it to have the proper effect.

get yourself a porter cable..got the 7424 from autogeek + orange pads aaaand Zaino Z-PC !

 

Do not do by hand, Zaino even says so. Use an orbital. You can pick one up at Lowes for $99.00, worth every penny!
