Default Zaino ZFX ruined!

ZFX is priced like liquid gold, so I use it sparingly. I carefully sealed the little ZFX container and stored it in one of the applicator bottles when I put it away. When I pulled it out last weekend, it was harder than a rock. WTF? Anybody else had this problem?

damn, that sucks. I thought you were going to say it ruined your paint.

I never really give it much thought, but i just put the lid on and never had any issues.

If you want to know a little secret, if you wax in the sun, you'll never noticed you never used it.

I couldn't understand that statement -- are you saying, if you wax in the sun, it won't look like you waxed at all? In other words, you're suggesting to wax in the shade? Just checking.. you said 'never' twice and messed up my english parser

i'm pretty sure he means that applying zaino in the sun will make it cure fast enough that you don't need to use the zfx. i generally apply in the sun since i don't have a garage or car port, but still use the zfx for good measure to make sure it's all broken down properly before removing it.

I used the ZFX because I was trying to follow Bonz directions to the "T". I know our humidity in Oregon isn't anything like the SouthEast, but I wanted to get the best results possible.

SOrry I ment if you use zaino waxes in the sun you won't need ZFX. I havnt used it in a whole year. It actually cures at the same rate.

From the application instructions:

When you are finished polishing, wash the mixing bottle inside and out with a heavy concentration of liquid dishwashing detergent or even better Isopropyl Alcohol and thoroughly rinse. The ZFX™ mixing bottles cannot be reused if the polish remains in the bottle for more than 12 hours. After 12 hours, it is not possible to remove the ZFX™ accelerator from the mixing bottles. Throw the mixing bottle and any unused polish contents away after 12 hours.
Maybe it got contaminated?

OP never indicated how long between uses. That stuff does have a shelf life.

It might have been stored some place hot/cold/humid or exposed to other chemicals.

The cap or bottle might have had a crack and it dried out.

Bruce, ZFX is not necessary IMO. If you perform the waxing in the sun, you can let the wax cure for a few hours and get the same results from my tests...

I dunno, all it is supposed to do is speed up the curing cycle from the documentation I've read...I tried it and didn't notice any benefits, but that is just my opinion.

From the Zaino FAQ (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...=Z#anchor37124)

Q: What is the usable shelf life of Zaino products?

A: A 70° room temperature is best for the longevity of Zaino products. Due to the optical additives used, extreme heat or cold can result in a decrease in gloss-enhancing properties.

When stored at average room temperature between 65° and 75° degrees, shelf life is as follows:

Z-PC 3+ years
Z-AIO 3+ years
Z-CS 5+ years
Z-1 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-2 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-3 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-5 For optimum results, use before 3 years.
Z-6 5+ years
Z-7 5+ years
Z-8 5+ years
Z-9 5+ years
Z-10 For optimum results, use before 2 years.
Z-12 For optimum results, use before 2 years.
Z-14 For optimum results, use before 2 years.
Z-16 3 to 5 years
Z-18 5 years +
ZFX For optimum results, keep tightly capped, avoiding moisture. Use before 24 months.
