Default New Zaino formula?

There is a rumor going around that they just released a new Zaino formula for Z-5 and Z-2. Does anyone know anything about this?

The new Z2 and Z5 formula is much slicker and glossier than before, AND it no longer is as thick as it used to be. It no longer sticks to the side of the ZFX bottle.

A detailer on Autopia applied it to a black ML500 and waited around 20 minutes (with ZFX) and he reported it came off practically as easy as S100/P21S/Souveran (IOW, like melted butter). He also noted better swirl filling with the Z5 than before. The new stuff is yellow in color and the Z2 is light light pink.

Even though I prefer CG (right now anyhow) I'll have to get some of the new formula stuff and check out the difference.

BTW: The Zaino tire dressing is really good. Not too shiny, doesn't splatter, and lasts.

Default I have tried the new Zaino

I must have gotten lucky; I got the new stuff this week when I re-ordered. The Z2 is now pink, the Z5 comes in a white bottle and the product is yellow.

The product is thinner and at first I thought "WTF? Is Zaino going cheap on us?" However, as the previous poster noted, it really is better because it spreads just as well as the old product, but it's easier to use and there's less wastage from it sticking to the inside of the bottle.

I put on a coat of the new Z2 and I swear it's even shinier! It's brighter, and reflections are even sharper. I called Zaino to comment on the new product and Sal suggested that I try the Z5. He said that with some paint colors you might get a better result from Z5 than Z2. He said with every car you really need to play around with combinations of the two products to find your best mix; they're different products and you get different results with them. I was skeptical, so I put on another coat of Z2 on half the car and a coat of Z5 on the other half.

I took the car to a meet today and asked a few of the guys (Eric1h, McDuck) to tell me which side is shinier. They both chose the Z5 side and I agree! Interesting!

Yes, I have all the new formulations in stock since my last re-stock order. Another thing is that the Z-2 and Z-5 do not separate no matter how long that the product stays sitting.

Sal uses cutting edge chemicals and formulations, it truely makes most waxes and polishes look like they where formulated in the dark ages. Since he is on the edge, the technology changes constantly so Sal tweaks his products accordingly.

Since I have distributed Zaino most all of the products have changed in some ways. I know for sure that the Z-2,5,6,7 have changed. For the really old time Zainoers like myself you may remember that the Z-7 used to be yellow colored, kinda looked like PEE, wow, glad Sal changed that.........

Kevin, see if you can get sal to redo Z6 so it doesn't attract so much dust! Or at least kill the static charge.

Couple weeks ago I received the first Zaino products, Z2 is in see through plastic bottle and the material is pink, the Z5 is in black bottle and big white sticker and the material is fairly Brownish/yellowish? Do I have the new formula?

Gotta back up Brian (bhobson333) on this...

The new formula Zaino is even shinier and the Z-5 side did seem to be slicker and sharper (image reflection) than the Z-2. Maybe I'll just buy Z-5!

Can't say whether they are that much better than the old formula. Didn't see that side by side and we didn't have much direct sunlight.

Still luv the Zaino, tho!

From what I've heard, to see if you have the new Z-2, store it on a shelf for a several days. If it doesn't seperate like oil and water, then you have the new formula.

Z-5 now comes in a white bottle and is very yellow. Smells like bannanas they say.

i won't be able to confirm until I pick up a batch this weekend.

You def got the old Z5, the new is bright yellow in an opaque white bottle. It sounds like you might have gotten the new Z2, though. I thought the old Z2 was more of a tan-anglo-flesh color than pink. The new is definitely a light pink. The bottle is the same.

I think the new formula was released either the 23rd or 26th of June so if it was shipped before then you probably got the old. It's not THAT big a deal, though, the older formula gives an awesome finish!

Just because I got better results from Z5 doesn't mean everyone will! According to Sal, different colors react differently to the two products, and it depends on the layering. It wouldn't surprise me at all if you got different results from your Brickyard than I got from my Silverstone.

Old vs New Zaino. New is on the right.

You can just make out the shade difference between the new and old. Also, the new Z-2 comes with a white cap. And there is a drastic color change between the old and new Z-5, so there is no way to confuse those. Can't wait to test it out!

I have had the new Zaino formula on my car for about a week now and I must tell you that I notice it every day. I wouldn't have believed it, but this new stuff is just so much shinier, glossier, more reflective than before. I'm seeing many more true-color reflections than I ever saw before. It's like it turned the surface into a mirror!

Brian, that's good to hear. My distributor is getting the new formula sometime early next week. I can't wait to pick mine up. BTW, I was the guy with the G at the triangle Z meet. Your silverstone is so much shinier than mine. I've got some catching up to do
