I can't seem to get my windshield clean enough. Always seem to have a film of sorts on the inside.

I use Stoner's Invisable Glass cleaner and Autoglym Glass Polish
Cleaner(Got this from Autopia). I polish the glass to remove all films about once a month then use the stoner cleaner between polishes. This removes all films and waterspots from the windows and they are 100% clear.

Stoners IG is good. Try using newspaper (except on tint) instead of cloth.

Autoglym is awesome. I second that.

I use Zaino Glass Polish. Leaves an incredibly clean surface.

I also apply Rain-X afterwards because the glass is so clean water doesn't really bead on it.

If it's not dirty with bugs, etc, I simply use a damp microfiber towel, followed by a dry microfiber towel. You'll be amazed at how good a job that will do.

When it's a bit dirtier. I substitute Eimann Fabrik Clear Vision Auto Glass Cleaner for the water and use the same procedure.

Yup! Try it - you'll be amazed! Use newspaper for all exterior windows, mirrors, and the inside windshield. Use microfiber for the other interior windows.

Newspaper is a ridiculous myth that somehow is still being circulated. Lint free towels, or a microfiber is your only choice.

I always use the towel I dried it with to wipe down the inside and outside of the windows. Then if it gets dirty between washings, I use a towel and a spray bottle filled with dihydrous monoxide, AKA-water! A mist of water works pretty well to get almost anything off. Maybe that's why its known as the "universal solvent".

I disagree. Newspaper is highly absorbent and never leaves lint or streaks. You can clean your windshield in a fraction of time with MUCH better results than even microfiber.

Sometimes I put a coat of Z-6 on the outsides of my windows. I've tried it on the inside also, but you need to have the windows very clean first.

Haven't tried Zaino glass polish, I'll have to add that to the shopping cart.

Bon Ami spray (was recommended by Pat Goss of Motorweek).

Newspaper is only partially lint free. It is not that absorbent. Really. Do a net search and see what you find.
Plus it is covered in ink and bleaching chemicals. In other words: it stinks.

If the newspaper myth were true, then plain copier paper would work as well. Or even good resume paper stock. Paper is paper: newspaper happens to be pressed paper with lots of crap than don't aid in cleaning. There is nothing even inherentelly mechanically advantageous about newspaper that would make it better.

Make this myth go away. This is just out of control. I see these stupid myths constantly propagated all over. Just because you see it written and spoken everywhere, do not believe it. It's almost like a home remedy: only 7 days of the flu with honey, but a whole week without.

Microfiber + water, maybe some ammonia, or citrus based cleaner.

Next time you disagree, back it up with proof or at least a hypothesis. If this was a science forum, you'd be laughed off the board.

Sorry, we have different definitions of scientific. The type of science I rely on involves experimentation and observation. I try different products and methods and use what works best for me. If you were really interested in a scientific discussion you should have worked on your first post a little more. I couldn't find anything scientific in what you said:

Paper is paper? Ha, I doubt you even believe what you said. To think that newspaper is even remotely similar to resume paper is laughable at best. Not absorbent? Not lint free? It's obvious you have never tried cleaning your windows with newspaper.

Go smash some bugs on your windshield and come back and do an actual test rather than just relying on speculation. Do one section with microfiber, one with newspaper, another with paper towels, and finally some resume paper - just for fun. Then we can talk.
