Default Wax

Hey I have a quick question for all the do it yourself guys out there. I bought my car used about 2 year ago and it was a little nicked and scratched up everywhere. Its nothing bad, but between work and school i have had no time to fix it and not enough money to get it done at the shop ( plus i also wasted my moneyz on a 02 f4i hehehe). Anyways school is out now and i decided to wax my car to get the little imperfections out. I went with macquires wax cleaner, but that just made it the car shinny and super clean, but also made the imperfections more noticable. Can you guys recommend me a wax i could put down to remove little scratches and chips? Thx for the advice guys

Check out detailed image, check out superblack's detail thread, and get a PC to cut down on the work you will be doing to fix those imperfections correctly.

^care to clarify how that will get rid of scratches? To really make your car look better, you will need to clay bar, polish, seal, wax. Clay bar only takes out surface imperfections such as dirt that is stuck in the clear coat, sap, etc.

You will need to polish to get out minor surface imperfections, seal it and wax it. It will make a WORLD of difference over just a clay bar.

Again, go to DetailedImage.com

Everything is there from tutorials, products to buy, a Q&A section. Be prepared to spend some $$. This isn't your over the counter crap, this will take your paint and car to another level if done correctly.

I also STRONGLY advise looking at superblack's detail thread. Lots of good info in there.

If you want to restore the paint while staying on a budget here are some of the options I would recommend:

Clay Bar - They will deep clean the paint beyond what washing can do.
Clay Magic Fine Grade Clay Bar and Chemical Guys Luber

Polish - Permanently removes swirls and ultra light imperfections. It will provide the most significant improvement in the appearance of your paint.
Menzerna Intensive Polish (medium) followed by Menzerna Final Polish II (light)

Sealant or Wax - Sealants last much longer but either option will protect the paint and enhance the shine. Chemical Guys M-Seal is an affordable yet high quality product.

If you want everything at a great value look at our Polish and Protection and Starter Kit. It has everything you want and a discounted price. We have all of these products available at www.detailedimage.com and we offer 10% off to all forum members with the coupon code 10off350Z. I also recommend you check out our Detailing Guide for more information about each step. Let me know if I can help you any further.

^Used and loved. I went with the clay bar, menzerna final polish, jet seal, poor boys wax and was amazed at the transformation...I even did it by hand (I do not recommend this because it is a PITA). I didn't realize you could put down the wax 2-3 coats, I only did one with great results. I will be adding an additional coat in a week. Great website and amazing service.

*and no...I do not work for them *

No product will fix paint chips. Touch-up paint for you.

No...not enough said. Clay bar will not remove imperfections. Clay bar removes debri on the surface of the paint, prepping the surface for polishes, glazes, sealants, and waxes.

A light polish by hand may work for you. I recommend that you test any new product in an inconspicuous area first. Like the bottom of the door.
