Default Swirls in the pillars. Will they come out?

I was using a chrome polish to remove hard water stains in the windows and got a little carried away onto the pillars. Sadly it left a bad patch of swirls and I tried to use Meguire's paint polish on them but that only helped get rid of the haze.

Upon closer inspection they look like plastic and maybe that is why they swirled so bad? Any ideas on how to fix this and bring them back to a nice shine?

They make plastic polishes for cars that you can try. Meguirer's makes one that I have used. If it doesn't work add carbon fiber B pillar covers. They look good on Z's.

Ok thanks. I'll probably end up going the CF route though I don't really want to. Inside door handles are scuffed up and I might need CF covers for that too

buffing them with a PC/flex and a light polish should do the trick...yes, they're plastic so don't buff too long!

Buy some "Kit Scratch Out" it comes in a yellow bottle and it's only like $1. I used this all the time before I went the CF route.

Meguiars PlastX (sp) should do the trick, use an orange pad and follow it up with a white pad.

Sorry for checking back so late I was out of town. Thank you for the responses!

I'm not familiar with the PC/Flex term. I did try a light polish with a microfiber pad and it didn't remove it entirely.

I'll look for this thank you. I imagine it's in the same section as the other polishes and detailers?

What are the differences in the orange and white pads? Are they Meguiars products too?

The flex and Porter Cable (PC) are orbital buffers which produce an even amount of heat to remove the swirls. Hand buffing is ok but it'll require constant pressure to replicate a buffers heat.

it will definitely come out with a buffer. i have done countless of Zs. one sticks out in my mind with MAJOR swirls in plastic pillars and it came out flawlessly.
