HELP!! Y can't I get rid of swirl marks w/ Zaino?
Can anyone help me get rid of the swirl marks using zaino... i've only read good things about z-5 and z-2, but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I have a sb and it has so much swirl marks, what can I do??
Zaino doesn't contain any abrasives so it can't technically get rid of scratches and swirls. All it does is fill in the swirls and scratches to make them less visible. One coat may not do it. I would try three, five max. If you do not see any improvement or are still not satisfied you need to take a polishing compound and orbital buffer to the finish.
There is no way to keep super black perfect when looking at it close up! Trust me. You can get it pretty damn good but it will always show any slight webbing that other colors would probably hide. I spent a month reading online to learn everything I could before I went to town detailing my SB Z. The best detailing site I could find was http://www.autopia.ws/index.php . Everything you need to learn about detailing is there trust me! In order to keep SB looking good you must follow the " perfect washing and drying " technique written by David Bynon. If you want to keep your car looking great get yourself some microfiber drying towels. I recommend getting the Big & Little Blue Waffle Weave Towel Kit. You will not find a better towel for drying your car trust me. I ordered a few different Microfiber towels to see which ones I liked the best and after using them for a few months IMO Pakshak has the best towel at the right price. I use the Pakshak towels for removing polish and buffing and keep the waffle weave blue towels simply for drying. A few more sites I've come across in my travels are;
www.properautocare.com/ ( Has just about everything you could want )
www.pakshak.com ( Your microfiber towel site )
If you really want to learn what products really work from experienced people check out www.Autopia.org . Good luck!

I used Meguires #83 ( light polishing formula ) followed by their hand polish before I applied my Zaino's Z5 X3 and Z2 X3. I used Porter Cable random orbital polisher for the #82 and the HP. You must strip any polish before using a product like zaino. I used Dawn X2 followed by Zaino's car wash formula which worked great. So to answer your question mb27 yes I had some light swirls from the Dealers initial detail.

pictures wont pick up on swirls, you really gotta hit it at the right angle to see them in person.
Z5 helps, but cant totally reverse it. and IMO the full process of washing and waxing probably creates as many swirls as the wax can hope to fix. Its a losing battle on a black car, gotta polish it every now and again to hope to stay ahead.
