My Z is a garage queen, so she doesn't need to be waxed very often. However, when I do take her out I have a detailing routine I follow each time we get back home. First, I use a synthetic shammy to wipe the front bumper, headlights, and windshield to remove any bugs that might have gotten smashed. I then use a microfiber towel to brush off any dust that might have accumulated during our drive. If I feel like indulging myself I might use some detailing spray to put a little extra gloss on all the horizontal planes of the car.

Wax whenever I feel like it, really. Usually averages out to about once every 6-8 weeks with washes every weekend in the summer and about once every 3-4 weeks in the winter. SoCal doesn't get harsh winters but the weather can be finicky.

Full detail every 6 months, approx.

In my current arsenal of waxes that I rotate depending on my mood:
Poorboys World Natty's Blue
P21S 100%
Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax
Optimum Opti-Seal
Meguiar's #16
Collinite 845IW

I wash mines every 2 weeks, quik detail spray it every 3 days and wax it once every month. I also clay bar it every 6 months. Some people say that waxing it every month may be to excessive but ive owned a black mitsu eclipse 3G. black eclipse paint was **** for heavy oxidation.
While i looked at all my other friends car start having rust spots and paint fading, mines still looked like a show room car until i traded it in so I think im going to keep the same method I've been doing, excessive or not.

Also i use meguiars everything,
Quick Detailer, 3 step wax, wheel cleaner, car wash etc..also the ultimate line

With modern paint jobs/clearcoat...sounds like alot of guys are doing needless waxing-polishing.Possibly its a bit theraputic?
I've used just about everything there is in the form of waxes over the years,What I've found is less is more.Don't use too much product.
I've got a silverstone Z..03,bought new.The paint looks better than the day I picked it up.I use Color Magic(Turtle Wax).It comes in "colors",the black is for grays etc.
Used on a black car,it gives the paint a deeper dimension. On my silverstone, brings out the contrast of the gray &metallic.I wax my car maybe every 3 months.Color Magic is best used if you put a small amount on a damp terry cloth.Rub in a circular motion.
Have another terry towel ready to wipe of the polish.
No need to let it dry.Just buff off after you apply.
This stuff will not water spot...lasts a long time.

I've used all the expensive stuff(ZYMOL ETC).This is the best and easiest to use.

I do have a question. How do you guys clean or wash your car after you've just waxed it a week prior to? Do you simply just wash as normal? Does that remove any of the wax?

Your z looks great...2 coats of wax? Overkill...not needed.

This tip is not about exterior/wax.Its about interior protection,dash...anything "plastic"
switch panels,door/pillars etc.
AUTO GLYM vinyl&rubber care is fantastic. After using products like Armor ALL that leave a oily surface, splotchy finish,Auto GLYM is just the opposite.Spray on or apply lightly,
wait a few minutes--buff off to a nice shine that lasts! Its like a hard clear coat for interior pieces. It also works great on exterior parts(use on my Z'S grille).
AUTO GLYM is made in the U.K.Some auto parts places sell(PEP BOYS carries)Or,you can get online.
Try it,you will be amazed!

OT.. went with Poorboy. Did I make another mistake? On a budget, some of that stuff seemed quite pricey. A little more work for buffing, and/or a little less longevity is fine. My car is garage kept.. fairly low miles.

Meguiars Wax, Blown Dry with a Toro electric leaf blower and use only micro cloth on it. Once per month, garage kept and covered, sitting on carpet. Approx. 21,100 miles on it. 2003 350Z Track Model Super black. Supercharged Vortech S/C with a few extras, 418 rwhp.

I will never bring my car to a car wash (hand wash or brush wash). Dealership offers me a free courtesy wash (car dirty as fck) each time I bring my car in, I'm like... no, thank you.

However, I like washing my car though and do it once a week, wax once a month. Clay bar 6 months to a year if needed.

I don't drive it every day. Maybe 2 days a week. So with that, I wax every couple months. Polish once a year. I'll probably be more inclined to it once I get into my house and out of an apartment with a tiny garage.

Silverstone isn't the best color for depth. Waxing just seems to bring out the metallic a lot more.

Usually wax every month and a half or so depending on how well water beads during my normal washes.
