Default Just got Zaino, question about clay bar

I think the factory put the paint sealant on my car before I got it and I've had it for about 4 months. Should I clay bar the thing before doing Zaino to it or skip that and just wax it? Will it strip the paint sealant?

Thanks,
JasZ

Wash the entire car with dawn liquid soap. Then re-wash with Zaino Z-7, then claybar, then wash again with Z-7, then dry, Z-6, then go to Z-5 and Z-2 with ZFX. Z-6 in between.

do the bar

I did the bar 2 weeks after getting my car, my car is smooth and beautiful, 1000x better than picking it up from dealership...

The factory does not put any sealers or waxes on the paint, I think they even ship the Z cars with plastic on the paint. Your dealer may have waxed it, just wash with Dawn, clay bar, and apply a coat of Zaino.....

Check this thread to see how much junk I got off of my car with the clay just 4 days after taking delivery of my car:

Ok. Thanks for the advice. The dealership told me that they put paint sealant on it. Does that just mean that they waxed it?

I always wondered if that was just a load of bull.

So I also already have a paint chip in the front. What's the best way to take care of that?

I'm passing on the clear bra thing.

Thanks,
JasZ

Buy a bottle of touch-up paint from the dealer and fill it in. If it's a small chip, it won't be noticeable. If you're really **** about it, you can buff out the filled-in chip with Langka (it's expensive, though).

Dealerships often wax or polish a high profile car to increase the bling factor and make it sell better or sometimes they try to sell a high priced sealant job after the car is sold, I hope you did not pay for this "sealant" Dealerships may do this but the factory does not.

For chips see this web site: http://www.angelfire.com/il/99redbird/rockchip.html

Thanks for all the great information. I just did the Zaino thing yesterday and it turned out pretty great. Only took me about 8 hours total. It was totally worth it. I did a coat of z-2 and then z-5 and then one last coat of z-2. Does that gloss spray you use in between coats really help? It rained this morning so I guess I'll get to see how well it beads up today.

I'm afraid I'm going to blind someone with all this gloss.

Again, thanks for all the help.

You don't have to use the Z-6 but I think it adds to the overall effect. Just wait until you see those beads!

My Zaino kit is inbound as I type this, but I have a question about the clay bar (which may be answered once I see it, but I thought I'd throw this out there). When you apply this claybar thing, does it leave a residue that you have to buff off? Or, it is more like a squeegee that you just rub down the paint to remove the contaminants? Again, my question is likely premature since I've never seen the product, but I'm just curious as to how it works.

Nevermind--Dr. Bonz' "experiment I" thread answered the question.

Guys I have a question; I used to only use cleaner wax, but now I want to try claybarring. In what combinations would I use a claybar and/or cleaner wax?

For instance would I claybar first, then cleaner wax, then wax protectant? Or just leave out cleaner wax all together?

BTW, I am using Meguire's Gold Class.

Leave it out. I'd just use the clay and then use Zaino (or whatever polish you are using).

For those who have never seen or felt this kind of clay let me give you this analogy. Think Silly Putty consistancy. This isn't the kind of clay you see spinning around on a potter's wheel that desintigrates when you add water. This is almost waterproof and you slide it over the paint very easily. No residue at all.

Darn it doc, I tried to send you a PM, but your box is full!

anyways.. I've read through this thread 4 or 5 times, and with so many directions & recommendations, I've lost track. Can you please post some consise directions for a lowly zaino apprentice?

I've ordered the Zaino Bros' Total Protection Show Car Kit
which includes:
ZFX™ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive
Z-2™ Show Car Polish for Clear Coated Car Finishes
Z-5™ Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches
Z-6™ Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray
Z-7™ Show Car Wash
Z-18™ ClayBar
& TWO Zaino Bros' Custom Polish Applicator

Also, if you could include your thoughts about the best drying/buffing cloths (preferribly something I can buy at Pep Boys or Advanced Auto cause I don't want to wait for an internet order to arrive ), are the Zaino applicators any good, best way to apply each of the waxes, etc,.

Oh yea, I read something in an earlier post about applying something to the windows.. and I've got dealer installed M3 clear plastic coating on the splash guards in front of the rear tires.. Do I need to handle these differently?
