Default zaino and s100

If you apply a coat of s100 over zaino does that mean that you cannot apply anymore zaino? I heard that once that coat of s100 is on you must go back to washing with dawn if you want to apply zaino.

Yes, to get the Zaino to bond to the previous Zaino coat, you'd have to wash with Dawn to remove the S100.

You can build up layers of Zaino.....the S100 just changes the look by putting it on top. The S100 will wear off in a few weeks.

Furthermore, even if you want to add more Zaino before the S100 wears off, washing with Dawn is NOT going to strip the previous layers of Zaino off.

Make sure you understand what you are putting on your car; is it a wax or a polymer? (A polymer is a type of plastic)

You can get a great shine by applying wax. You can get a really excellent shine by applying a top-quality, expensive wax. No matter how much you pay or how good it is, if it's wax it will melt off your car in one afternoon in the summer sun, leaving you with diddly-squat protecting your paint.

Zaino and several other polymers will not melt off your car in the summer sun. They will shine and bead water like crazy and protect your car for 6 months or more, even in the summer sun.

If you're going to wax/polish your car EVERY week, you can get a look as good or MAYBE better than a polymer by using a wax. If you choose a wax and leave your car out in the summer sun, the wax will melt off your car in one afternoon, leaving it unprotected for the rest of the week.

I chose to use a polymer. I tried Zaino, I couldn't be happier. Other people who chose another polymer are also happy with their choice. I suggest that you do some research, but choose a polymer.

I'm a leading advocate of anti-Zaino waxes.

I love waxing my car and if I'm going to wax it layer upon layer then its much better for me to do it with a Carnuba based wax. On personal experiance I have found it easier to apply/remove and the overall shine (when applied correctly, and using the right products) is in my humble opinion unbeatable.

I've seen lighter cars Zainoed and Carnuba waxed and I really, honestly couldn't see much of a difference, thus the Zaino won out for its longevity. But on darker cars, like my SB I have time and time again seen cars Zainoed and shine, and cars Carnuba'd and its like looking into a black pearl mirror.

Just my 2 cents....in a thread where they actually weren't needed at all.

Zaino is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to apply and remove than carnauba!!!

And Zaino will reflect with the best of them!

so if i apply zaino to my car, then put s100 over the layers of zaino, i can then wash with dawn and my car will still shine from the layers of zaino? Is it bad to wash your car often with dawn?

The only reason to wash with Dawn is to strip off wax (like s100). Dawn will not remove Zaino. You should strip off all wax before applying Zaino.

SO - if, after applying Zaino, you still feel it's not shiny enough and you want to over-coat it with a wax (like s100) then you should strip off all of the over-coat wax (with Dawn) before you apply more Zaino so that you don't have layers of wax between the layers of Zaino.

That said, I should make two points:

1) Wax on top of Zaino seems like overkill to me, and a waste of effort. The Zaino itself is certainly shiny enough.

2) Dawn is a relatively harsh soap to be washing your car with. Zaino recommends washing your car with Dawn ONE time; before the first coat of Zaino.
