I haven't personally tried it, but know many who have. The ones that really care about their car care don't like it, the ones that would of just gone to the car wash anyways like it. They all seem to conclude that it doesn't do a perfect job and the soap leaves a weird film.

Do a search. There should be a good deal of info on this site already if I remember correctly.

I heard it strips paint, so needless to say, I would never use it.

Default I like it

I like it.

It does prevent spotting and since drying is a good way to add little swirls/scratches I am happy to skip drying the car with a towel.

I just rinse the car with the filtered water and it dries spottless, including the windows and mirrors!

I've used it and really like it. I know 2 others who use it, and like the convenience it offers. I've found that you're much more likely to scratch your paint by drying it with a towel or chamois. Some of you may spend more time making sure that your chamois is perfectly clean and that every bit of dirt is off the paint before drying, but I've found that to be very difficult.

As for speculation that it strips paint, I can't really assess that since this product is so new. You pretty much need a lab to confirm that at this early stage. I certainly don't see silverstone paint on my driveway.

I'll probably continue to use this product until there is concrete evidence that it'll do permanent damage to the paint. As it is now, the sun and 100 degree heat probably does the most damage here in Sacramento.

I was about to say the same thing. I find it hard to believe that they would design something for cars that would strip wax and paint. Still haven't seen any hard evidence that it does either.

I have only heard about this from one member, and for me it is just not worth taking that chance.

The member that mentioned this said that the material that he used for washing his Z was black after using the provided soap. He also mentioned that he was certain his car was not that dirty to where the black coloring could be dirt. He has never seen anything like it before.

that'd be interesting because that would mean that it ate through ALL the layers of clear coat also, I find that VERY hard to believe

It would take A LOT to eat through a layer of paint/clear and most cars these days have multiple layers of clear. Unless for Nissan is using a single stage paint on the car, but that's usually not the case for black. And if that was the case the owner would notice a little paint comming off whenever he waxed/polished the car

I am not sure what happened exactly and what the circumstances were.

After reading your post, it does sound a little fishy that the chemicals in the soap were strong enough to eat through the clear coat and paint yet failed to harm his hands.

As for me, I'll still give the product more time to be on the market before I try it.

I'm thinking it may of been the film from the soap some how. That's the big problem i've heard about. I've got a unit laying around at a friends that he got for me, I guess I'll finally have to use it, but on the girlfriends car

I'm still waiting for people to try this product w/ a different soap. I still think i'd rather look into a soft water atachment that you put on the faucet

When you do end up using it, post your results here. I'm curious to know if you experience the same results. Good idea by the way on letting your girlfriends car be the guinea pig , a Z is just to fragile and beautiful to be treated in this sort of manner

I'm guessing your girlfriend has a civic or something destined for work duty, right?

I bought my 350Z last Friday. I got the Mr. Clean Autodry and it was the first thing I ever used on my car. I used it twice and now I am returning it for the refund.

I have the black 350Z. Both times I used it the mitt was super black looking. After this second time using it I had all types of residue on the car. I didn't wax the car or anything when I got the residue, it just showed up all over the car and the windows after the car dried itself. The car lost alot of luster because of the residue also.

I bought Meguiar's Gold Class car wash and washed all of the residue off earlier today. Used some Wipe and Shine and now it looks like it should again. I am waiting on my PC to get the NXT out on the car.

Also, even though my mitt was really black my car doesn't look like it leaked paint, obviously you could tell if the clear coat was eaten away and paint was being stripped. I don't know why the mitt was getting so black. My car was really dirty today, moreso than using the AutoDry, and my mitt wasn't dirty at all when I got done.

My personal opinion, the product sucks, maybe because my car is black the residue it leaves is obvious.

The thread that discussed this product can be found here:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=52952

If you read thru them all you will see that initially most people were impressed with it but over time, they discovered it left a film and made the car dull looking. Indications were that most of the initial adopters were not going to use it again.

Default The filters

I'm going to buy a kit just to get the filters and use my regular car wash. The well water where I live is leaving calcium deposits on the car.

Are you drying it with a towel or letting it dry in the sun, etc?

If you have hard water, you should definitely make every effort to dry it and not let the water dry by itself on the car.

I've been using the AutoDry, and i couldn't be happier with it. There are 4 stages: RINSE, WASH, RINSE, FILTERED WATER SPRAY. Sooooo easy! Makes life so much easier. In regards to the cleaning material getting black, it says in the instructions that the cloth that you wash your car with will get dirtier and blacker than normal because the soap is supposed to do that good of a job of taking dirt off the car. Doesn't leave a glossy finish though... Simply cured by a quick layer or wax.

The black stuff you are seeing is most likely brake dust.
