I raced a 350Z last night in my 95 Z28 Auto and it was a pretty cool race I would say. What happened is I was doing about 75 mph, then a sick lookin black 350Z pulls of side by side to me. I can hear him drop a gear and then so did I. He punches and gets a little jump on me and I was ready in 3rd for him, so I punched it also, then within like 2 sec I pulled up to him and then started walking away from him. By 105 mph I was 2 cars ahead of him and figured no point on still going. 2 minutes later he pulls up again and we both take off same time and I just start walking away from him and pull a few cars on him up to 110+.

I think this was a good race but what I would like to know is what stock 350Z times are because I thought they were faster than my Z. I had raced on the night before and had the same results so I dunno.

Why would you add dual cats to your car?
Not sure how a lightly modded A4 LT1 is going to walk away from a 6MT on the highway but if so nice kill.

 

I had a feeling u would ask how u drop gears in a auto haha. What I mean is my A4 has OD-D-2-1 and I put it in D which is like 3rd gear instead of 4th. Anyways this is twice I pulled on a 350Z in 2 days and honestly I thought they were faster but I keep on walking away from them. The 1st time 2 days ago the 350Z was on my *** and I slowly starting walking away and then he got next to me then we went at it and I pulled pretty good. Now I have seen stock A4 Z28's and others that have done it, but they have pulled like 13.9-13.8's STOCK but I have not yet done it and the A4's are faster than the 6mt

 

oh and dual cats is a 96-97 Z28 thing with 285 hp and the 93-95 have 1 cat and 275 hp but I have a 96 motor in mine thats why I say that.

 

My best stock time is in my sig. Most are high 13's to low 14's. Driving dependant.

 

Ya I have seen one stock do a 13.9 but this was from a roll 75 mph+ so I dunno but dam 103 mph trap speed stock is hella cool.

 

Don't you worry my fellow 350 drivers, I walked a poor z28 driver about a month ago. Guy's car was LOUD... he kept pulling up and reving and pulling a head and dropping back... I didnt even down shift out of 4th (we were on a back road doing like 45-65mph) but I hit it a little to not lose him. At the next red light I ask if he wanted to go on green. Well... we went... and his headlights just kept getting smaller.

 

urs stock 2? I just though they would pull on me but 2 times in a row now I walk on them. Also how loud the car is doesnt mean anything haha, I can make mine loud but also lose power.....lol. Was the Z28 6 speed or Auto cuz I can get on 6 speeds almost everytime unless they are moded.

 

oh I see ur mods nevermind on asking if its stock....haha, but I see Stillen Stage 2!!! now if im correct thats a supercharged u got and now see I am talking almost stock vs stock not stock vs SC lmao. I can throw a charger on mine and be twice as fast but I dont have one yet. I watched a SC 350Z run a 12.9 on street tires it looked like so that was cool, but then again I seen very lightly moded Z28's with a procharger or any other charger breaking 12.4's or faster

 

Yeah I'm sc'd, but i thought I would throw that out there anyway, lol. Yeah I dont know if the guys z28 was auto or manual, but I think all he had was flowmaster.

I think stock the z28s may have more top end because of the v8, but then again, i really dont know half as much about domestic cars as I do imports. I'd say on the freeway and from a roll the z28 probably has more umph. If I were you, I'd race a lightly modded Z from a stop. You may have different results. ive never been a fan of the tipple digit freeway races, those dont say much about a cars ability other than strictly top end/top speed and how big the drivers ***** are, lol.

 

Yeah thats cool that u got a S/C so u ever track it yet??? I figured the Z would get my Z on the freeway but I dunno haha, but I haved raced 1 from a stop like I said and I took him for a minute but he let off so I dont know what would of happened. Anyways hopefully I'll get to race more because they are a good race and they are quick so they give me a good challenge compared to most imports/hondas haha. I got a big ol cam and springs ect I need to put in then ill race some more Z's haha.

Just a ? but how do Z's do against S2000's?

Saturday a Z/28 was behind me on the highway, a cop was in front, the Z/28 was with a group of cars without hoods that were going to a local drag strip (1/8 mile). He exited behind me, we waited at a red light, then turned left. I was in front. I really don't know what year it was but I think it was the same yr as yours. I drove away at about half throttle, and watched him in the rear view mirror. I saw he was trying to catch up, so I kept accellerating to maintain the 6-9 car distance. I was at about 80 or so when the light ahead turned red, so I stopped. When the light turned green I got on it a bit, not too much, because there was a lot of traffic and also I wanted him in front of me so I could see what it was. (At this time, I didn't know wtf it was, ecept it didn't have a hood.) He started running up my bumper, so I quickly pulled into the first availible space between two cars (like I was scarred or something). He zoomed past, that is when I saw the Indiana plates and the red Z/28 on the trunk lid. It was an acutal badge, not those weird decals on some Z/28s. So I followed him, after we passed the last light it was clear ahead, he pulled to the right after the next car, and I pulled next to him. We were side by side, going at it, and when I shifted to third I jumped ahead, so I yelled "seeya" and waved. He must have had to stop his car to pick up his doors, because I blew both those babies off. He could get a ticket for no doors or hood. Haha. I thought those Z/28s were faster than that. Do they come in 6 cylinders? Because if that was a V8, that cat better ask for a refund on two of them.

I had a Z28 Race me from straight up at a light one day. I had seen him in traffic and when we pulled up at the light next to each other he stated reving his engine. I turned off the VDC and the ac. Launched at around 6000 rpm, the only mod i have is the jwt pop charger, i pulled a car on him from the first two gears just power shifting, then in third ate him up to 2 car lengths he held there through 4th but in 5th I walked him. If you can power shift the z and launch well you get the most out of her. Have fun racing guys, keep the shiny side up.
