Default 06 Bone Stock Base Run part 2

Finally went back to the track to backup my original runs and improve. After feeling the track out for a couple runs and fulfilling my curiosity of running through the entire 1/4 without going to 4th gear (go to 4th, trust me), I ate some dinner and let the car cool off.

My last outing the car was blistering hot and I promisied myself that I wouldn't do that agin. Let the engine cool completely off and lined up for my first real run. WOW it's so much more powerful cool. Launched really good and then about 5000rpm in 1st the tires let loose. There must have been something on the track.

Next run, good launch, smooth shifts and it felt great:

60: 2.06
1/8: 8.94
MPH: 79.51
1/4: 13.86
MPH 99.58

So now I finally get to see that 20mph in the second 1/8, but I KNOW there's another 1/10 in the 60' and about another 2/10 in the 1/4. But I'm satisfied, time for a bone stock dyno run and then we'll start modding.

Nice. Good work, keep improving man. Do you run your car with 1/8 tank of gas? Take out spare/jack? Try doing that if you havent yet. 13.7 in your future...

Good numbers. I never concern myself with what other 350Z racers post, just my numbers. BTW 2006 owners have said that it is possible to cross the finish line at the top of 3rd gear. I say bologna. True or False?

No way...my times went from 14.4@92 to 13.8@99 just by shifting to 4th.

My main reason for this was to get a good baseline for me to work with and find the weak links (if any). What I have found is the motordyne iso-thermic plentium spacer would be the best mod for this car hands down. There's such a big difference between running the car with a hot and cold intake.

My second thing I would change is the rear gears. I shift to 4th after the 1000' mark, not the best place to shift, 3.90 rear gears would really help this out and provide a much better time.

I believe with those two mods only you could run easy 13.6-13.5's and beat the car to 13.4's. Remember, I'm not only looking for mods that improve time, but mods that improve consistancy as well. Who cares if you can run a 13.5 now, but your next run is a 13.9.

After looking over the intake and exahust I don't believe that an intake will help this car much at all, though the exhaust can be improved on. I think after the above two mods are done a good lightweight exahust + y-pipe that gives about 8-12hp and looses a good chunk of weight would yield the next biggest results. After this I would look at a good ECU tune.

Good job man, keep it up. Also try removing the passenger seat. I ran a 13.79 on 19's and a full system with just a pop charger intake.

All you need to do is a quick burnout to clean the tires off, no need to do a tire melting smokey one, street tires are not meant for that.
