Question about the TOP 25 list regarding the 07 engine
Hey Guys,
I have a question and a concern when it comes to the 07's in the Bolt on list.
We all know they are a much stronger engine from the factory then the older VQ35DE engines.
SO, my question is... Should we have a Bolt-on list just for the 07's? Because as it is now the 07's are running faster times STOCK then most are running with Bolt-ons. Once they have Bolt-on they will be bumping most of the older engines off of the list and then the list will be mainly the 07's.
When it comes to FI or Nitrous i dont see this as big of a issue.
What is everyone thoughts on this, please discuss.
Let me know
Todd

The 2007 stock pushed me from #9 to #13. No big deal.
For the all-motor class, the 2007 will be a challenge. What I think you will see is that the 2007 is difficult to improve. The bump in all-motor is 13.77 seconds. I see the modified 2007 making the bump, but not decimating the entire class. Besides, I look forward to competing against the 2007.
For the time being leave it alone.

Just thought i would get everyones opinions before i make or not make the change. This thread was put together for the community and i want to make sure everyone who cares can voice their opinion on the matter.
I just wanted to start this thread now, before more people get bumped off of the Bolt-on list.
Thanks for everyones opinions thus far...

Then they start changing other parts ( pullies, flywheels, final drive, heads, cams, intake ) you see where i am going with this.

I personally don't care, as I don't see them as a threat just yet. However, for the sake of others, I'd recommend having a new class just for the HR engines.
Todd, if anything, we should just create a separate list in the same post. So in the same post it shows 2 different rankings list - 1 for DEs and 1 for HRs.

I think that a separate list between DR's, full slicks, and street tires would be the best thing. Slicks will pull more off than the HR motor does.
When I've run I've thought I could get more out of the car, but its temperature and traction thats limiting me. Slicks would pull almost .6 off my run...easily if the car didn't bog (wouldn't with a good launch). So I don't think a .2-.3 tenth difference justifies the separation.

Ultimately I'm only using the list to make a general comparison between my car and others and conditions vary enough that I already know where I stand.
I still say DR's/slicks are the biggest advantage. At the track here cars with DR's get lane choice so I usually get the slower lane (my best run was ironically in the slow lane ) meaning less chance of a great run.
Thats just my opinion though, yours may be different.

I say create a separate list, but my motives are not benevolent. I'm at #23 right now. I'm already at a disadvantage to the other cars due to my weight penalty(g35 sedan). Once the 07s start making the modded list, I'm toast.
Hell, my full bolt-ons with DR's sedan is slower than the top 6 guys in the Stock list.

I'm for a seperate list.
I know the GTO guys have a seperate list for the LS1 versus the LS2. I think the HR motor should have it's own list stock and with bolt ons.

agreed. Its makes sense. What about the the rev up. Is that not to much of a change to require a new list as well?

I dont see why there shouldnt be a seperate list. The motors are that different, and its obvious. There are still so many new members that are purchasing 03-06 Z's that would like to compare their cars to the list. If the list fills up with a bunch of 07's, its not a good comparison for them any longer.
