Default Beat an M3 @ 1/8 mi. Track.

I had the better launch. Ended up beating him by a full car but with the track only being 1/8 Mi. I think he would of creeped on me on a 1/4 Mi.. My Trap speed was 72.5 his was 80. Would cams make the difference?

What can I do to ensure I beat him @ a 1/4 Mi. track?

I have ran a E46 M3 buddy of mine and he would only pull like 1-2 cars on me by 70~. And I had a G35 sedan 6mt.

They really do not start to pull away till the upper rpms of their powerband.

Guys, I was there with the man, he can drive and took the m3 by at least a car! Jes scan and post the slip for the unbelievers... I just wish I can get my slip for the run against the cobra (had only half a car on me!?). It was all done at countyline on Sat., first time for both of us there, and my first time drag racing - man that was fun.

Unbeliever? I believe. A time slip gives important numbers like who crossed the finish line first, and by how much. The M3 has a trap of 80.0 MPH. The 350Z is 72.5 MPH. The 350Z wins.

Its very unusual for a car that traps 7.5 MPH less than the other to win.

72mph is a REALLY low trap for a modded Z...stockers trap over 80 easily.

I don't have a scanner at the momment. I will have my buddy Khalil (Kh_08) who was there and next up on the line, scan it for me tonight. I will type out the numbers, I have no reason to lie. I was surprised that I won, but I think the guy wasn't a good driver (most likely what happend).

Left (M3)

Car # 0

Mid ET 0.000

Elapsed Time 9.442
Lane Status

Right (350Z)
Car # 0

Mid ET 0.000
Trap MPH 72.5
Elapsed Time 9.687

No lie, the guy was just barely at my rear bumper as we crossed the line.

My Z has minimal engine mods. High Flow Cats, Nismo Exhaust, and Nismo CAI converted to Short Ram ( It has no heat shield and I think it's hurting my performance.) I have a 10'' Sub with a box in the trunk, 2 amps, alot (8 Sheets) of Dynamat, and my 19'' GT-S', alot of added weight. My car feels like a turtle to tell you the truth. My car is slow, I think the guy couldn't drive. What do you guys think? BTW it's been two years that I've been on a track let alone a drag strip. My experience is karting, and road racing.

my 03 Z was running those numbers but a plenum spacer and pulleys really did help out my acceleration and 1/8 trap speed. I paid about $800 for the two.

Like I said, the M3 has more top end. If you look at the dyno of a M3 and compare it to a 350z Dyno. The 350z makes more power below 6k of rpms than the M3. The M3 doesn't make more till above that rpm and that is where it shines. In a 1/8 mile track it won't show it.

umm...he left the line almost a half a second after you did. So ya, In a street race you won. But his et was faster than yours.

This is where you won the race.

BTW

Trap MPH 72.5
Elapsed Time 9.687

equates to 1/4 mile:
ET is 15.13 seconds
MPH is 89.90 MPH

yeah man, its cause you left a half of a second early. if you would have left at the same time, he would have put a couple cars on you and been pulling.

you need a turbo kit!! or at least some nitrous...

one day you can trap 100+ in the 1/8th like us big boys
