going to strip 1st time , tips ?
sunday may 4th im going to the national raceway park in englishtown to see what i can do on 1/4 mile... i have a silverstone touring , manual tranny 1000 miles ( bought it 3 weeks ago ) , so to cut the story short... first car that i own which is manual tranny , i've never been to the track before , im looking for any tips , so far i read to launch between 2500 - 3000 rpm , i should have 25 - 30 psi in rear tires and shift at red light...
well now dont think i cant drive cuz i had car for 3 weeks..
raced my friend yesterday in his 02 wrx ( his time on 1/4 mile is 15.8 , he went only once ) and i ate him... even from the start which was a shock to me , i took him 1/2 of the car lenght , and later it was 1 car , than 2 cars lenth ( i hit about 85 mph )... i know im not a good as i could be in this car yet , but yes , i learned a little...
also is it a good idea to power shift on the track... i tried few times and power shift from 1 - 2 , than from 3 - 4...
if you have any suggestions for my first run , please help me out...
im hoping for 14's on my first runs...
thanks...

Its pretty hard to power shift on the track. You shift at redline, so if you still have your foot on the gas its not gonna be good. If you can really drive a manual you should be shifting fast enough so that the RPM's don't drop too much. Good luck though!

Your car has only 1000 miles on it? Well, it probably has a few more since i posted this reply. But seriously, break it in "fully"/"officially". Take it to 1200 miles before you start racing/gunning the Z. But if this is your first time driving a manual, i recommend that you don't go to track yet, but practice on some backroads, launching. You don't want to pull like a 3-4 second 60 ft. times, or a 15 sec quarter mile time in front of people. They will laugh at you and make fun of your "granny shifting" - Fast and the furious? FAST AND THE FURIOUS? WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT. No, but seriously break in your car, and practice more, before you try to give it your all on the Track. You will feel more confident in handling your car.

hehe thanks Iris but i will not be shaving my body...
my Z will have 1200 when i go to the track , also i think if i took a wrx from the start ( even though my friends driving sucks )
i think i got my launching under control...
to tell u the truth i dont really care what people will say if i do 15 s
i still have the temp plates on , maybe they'll go easy on my...
hope to be in mid 14 range though..
quick question , i was racing wrx on the street again and we went 1/4 mile ( on the street ) i had him by 3 car lenghts hitting about 101 mph... my friend did 15.8 on the track with his wrx...
what range that would put me in.. approx..

Well, i do hope your car will be 1200 miles. Jesus, your friend's wrx ran a 15.8? What kind of a crappy *** driver is he? Is he shifting at like 3000 rpm when racing? Well approx. there. And if you did beat your friend's wrx by 3 car lengths, and he ran a ridiculous 15.8, then you would probably run a high 14 then. But i doubt your schemas are accurate. What model is your Z?if it is enthusiast + , remember when launching, turn off the TCS, you will lose significant power.
well as you figured it out he is a crappy driver... it was his first time though on the track( hope i wont make an *** out of myself like he did )... i didnt want to race him but he was trying to impress some people i had to give it to him.. today that guy is going to the dealer and trading in for an STI , he said i made him do it , hehe , with his driving skills i'll propably take his *** anyways.. im not discrespecting wrx's but i though those cars are much better , i drove it few times and to tell the truth i hate the car... i know half the racing is in the driver but still come on..
i have a touring edition full package , now im looking for an intake , i wanted to go with injen but i heard aem is an overall better company as far as intakes - brakes... if anyone knows the specs please let me know ... also im looking for the grounding kit , what company etc... and did anyone put NOS in their Z ?
im thinking 120 shot would be a good alternative , until they make twin turbo and it doesnt cost 5 K...

He is trading in for the sti today? Hmm...a little fishy. If he is a crappy driver, what makes you or him think that he will drive the sti better. i recommend that he practices in his (around 225bhp) car before he takes on a 300bhp/300 lb tq car. And I'm not sure if you should start out with a 120 shot of nos. Maybe a 50-70 shot. It's a new car, the ecu shouldn't be "pushed" yet to handle that much compression. Well, what the hell do i know. Read some articles and company tests of nitrous to see how the results turn out.
thats the thing i dont think he will do better even in sti , thats whats what he thinks i guess we'll have to see...
i would use 120 shots from the start , 3000 rpm should be fine though , maybe i'll wait till someone puts the nos in his z first...
anyone going to englishtown tomorrow ???
