Hi. I'm not sure if a 15" wheel would fit on a 2008 350Z.

If it would, what would a 255/50/15 tire do to the final drive gear ratio?

Using a tire/gear calcultor (link) I figure that it would change the final drive ratio to a 3.7:1.

All calculations were done assuming that the final drive ratio on a stock base 350z is 3.5:1.

 

Just shooting from the hip here, as I've not been able to fit a 16" wheel over the rear Brembo calipers, but my gut is saying that a 15" wheel will not fit the rears, let alone the fronts.

 

Depends on what kind of brakes you have... lots of guys run 15" wheels in the rear with drag radials... you have to have the standard brakes though.

that seems about right. I have 275/50/15 Dr's and it does shorten the ratio on top of my 4.083

 

What is your wheel offset?
What brand drag radial are you using?

Can you give me all the info on your setup?

Is that the widest tire that won't rub?


I have a VQ35HR 350Z. The track is open and I need to choose a drag radial / wheel sutup asap.

I have a 15x8 Jegs wheel with 5.5 backspacing. Theres plenty of room and the tires do not rub. Its just the max width I would go with the wheels being 8in wide.

 

Is 5.5 backspacing the same as +25mm offset?

275/40/17 = 3.668
275/50/15 = 3.748

 

The 15x8 welds or jegs or summit copies with 5.5 backspacing work very well. For a 50 series tire, 8" rim is plenty wide to put a nice amount of sticky meat on. 275 50 15 is very common, I plan on getting the Mickey Thompson street ets after I wear out my Hoosier slicks. BTW the jegs and summit weigh much more than the forged aluminum welds, but the welds require long shank 1-3/8" lugnuts in order to mount them. If you are refering to an 8" wide wheel, than 5.5" backspacing would equal +38 offset.
