Default 2008 350z vs. Chrysler 300 srt-8

I was recently "challenged" to a race from a friend that owns a Chrysler 300, possibly srt-8, but I've never heard a person mouth off sooo much, which makes me believe he must know something i dont, or just plain ignorant. Ive never seen one actually run, but Ive heard that the Srt-8 could pass the quarter in the high 13's. With that said How do you guys think my Stock would fair up against his stock, consider that it is the Srt-8 ?
I figured I'd take em the beggining of the run, but end up losing by a few feet :P

..and as far as race type, im 90% sure he wouldnt wanna touch any type of slalom so itll be a Drag..

american cars are all about their 1/4 mile he might jump up faster but youll catch him and destroy his heavy azz cuz chances are if hes a mouthy d-bag then he probably has heavy chrome rims on it like every flashy a-hole that drives that fake bently

I don't know, to be honest if it's an SRT-8 I would def give him the edge in a quarter mile drag- they are no slouches, don't let the size fool you. My brother's got an R/T Charger with I/E & Diablo Predator tune and it would eat up my '07 Z for sure. If he's that cocky chances are he's got a Predator tune as well which really does boost their performance nicely with automatic presets, all he's got to do is basically plug it in and set the tune and unplug it. If it's not the SRT-8 I think you definitely have a chance.

The SRT-8 will prob take you in the 1/4, even with big 22" chrome wheels. Stock, it runs around 13.5 sec 1/4, with a pretty good driver. So if you know that you can run your Z quicker than 13.5 secs, than you should beat him. Do a few drag runs this upcoming weekend to practice and then challenge him.

since the Z is not designed to be a drag car in the first place, i would be the better person and just ignore your "buddy" and let him talk crap all he wants. that's what i would do.

take him to a HDPE even and laugh your butt off on how horrid they do but there drag inspired cars so in the 1/4 thats more there element. But in a HPDE event even with a pred tune, i guarentee you will lap him in a 20 min session

I thought it was a video, but nope just s*** talking.. What i dont understand is why even compare the 2??

Im so baffled that I was even challenged by something like that I didnt even know what to tell em, i mean i'll never pass down a challenge, of course, but exactly what kinda race would they partcipate in thats far game to both parties??
like a Z vs 300 or Charger in a drag.. I would figure they would come out on top, and at the same time if you and 1 or to S - turns in the mix i have a very hard time believing the 300 could hold itz on it just seems to bulky, im not sure about the charger tho??

And to clear it up Im not bashing the charger not the 300, as they are both fantasticly built vehicles , they just always seemed a bit family-ish to me..

And this lovely comment below comes from the guy driving the Skittle Colored Charger,
"Funny......I didnt see them specifically talk about chargers with 24" wheels, thought they were talking about stock chargers, chargers as a whole.....350z's on any size wheels look stupid........only people I see driving them are girls or girly dudes, mostly dudes from other countrys with slick gel'd hair and calvin klein shades......or someone that looks like they just left a boy band audition"
..... Seriously???

its preety simple, in a straight line they put down more power and it will take a amazing Z driver to pull off there times with a shitty driver stock. Id give them the edge to a even lightly modified Z. Now a put that same car in the Zs element on a HPDE course and a stock 03 Z will own it , preety bad.

You shouldnt have a problem beating him as long as you know how to drive.

Since they are built on the same platform as the SRT8 Chargers (http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...25/386534.html), they are very difficult to launch, i have heard stories and read that it takes a very very skilled driver to obtain the 13.2 1/4 mile that the srt8 chargers claim. I have even seen some srt8-300's run 13.2 with MH tires, cam, header back exhaust, and headwork = weakness.

just like any race, it all comes down to driver, if you are a good Z drag driver, then you can easily pound the snot out of a poor driven srt8 300, past experiences have led me to believe that the loud-cocky db's cant drive for shiit, he prolly beat a Z on the highway a couple weeks ago, saw you, and decided that it'd be an easy win. Just like Z's, there are some people who can run a 13.7 on a stock DE, and others that cant break a 14.5, same goes for any car, it all some down to skill.

hopefully if he's loud and cocky, he'll be all about putting on a show, which means lots of tire spinning and trying to spin 2nd and 3rd and all that great shiit.

good luck bro

The SRT8 is a big sedan with 56 cubic feet of front passenger space and 51 in the rear. It isn't light at 4212 pounds, but at just below 10 pounds per horsepower the SRT8 will bust through 60 mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to a 13.2-second quarter-mile at 109 mph.

If one of the magazines busted out a 13.2 then with a good driver its probly a 12 second car.

You will not beat the SRT8 unless your friend is a retard behind the wheel and you are the reincarnation of Aryton Senna. If the SRT8 is tuned or has any basic **** he will rape your car.
