embarassed about my 1/4 mile run
Hes not i don't think haha. Look at his signature lmao.
Op: i took my z to the track last weekend bone stock to get a baseline and i ran 14.3 with 2.223 60ft. And slowy got better as the night went on. Did you slip the clutch a little or did you just 1st gear bomb it? I've found it much quicker to slip the clutch quickly to prevent wheel hop which can kill your times not to mention your drivetrain. Like everyone else has said practice will make perfect...as long as your having fun with your z that all that matters

I think my first runs were in the 16's. Best I ran before making serious changes was 15.5, and I got down 14.9 by removing spare tire, seats, etc. Practice helps alot, mods help a little.
Owners manual says to break in the eng. that way below 3k for so many mi's.
I went the other way,and went to the drag strip with 250 mi. on my car and ran a 13.8 If it's going to blow do it during the warrenty coverage.
Practice makes perfect,or some old saying like that.

Don't feel bad if you're getting 14's. It really depends on the track, weather conditions, etc.. When I had my 05 w/6MT I could never break into the 13's at my home track no matter what I did. It was known to be a slow track. I was very consistent and did well in the brackets, but wasn't as fast as I wanted to be. I took my car to a different track and my first run was a 13.95. You'd be shocked by the difference you'll sometimes see from one track to another. I noticed the same thing happen at 2 different tracks with my 07 HR.
This will give you some mediocre goals to shoot for (I'm not the best drag racer in terms of getting quick times):
287hp VQ35DE stock w/6MT- 13.89@101.2mph - 2.01 60-ft
306hp VQ35HR stock w/6mt- 13.69@104.5mph - 2.08 60-ft
I've been bracket racing for almost 3 years, and that's the best I've come up with so far. I usually hold my RPMs at 2500ish at the tree and VERY quickly slip the clutch out at the line. Sometimes I drop it too quickly and end up with 2.2ish 60-ft times. I've never gotten under 2.0 on street tires.. bothers me!

I wouldn't worry about it too much seeing that you're in Wichita, KS in early June. I would guess you were running in upper 80/low 90 degree humid air. The 1,800' elevation isn't doing you any favors either. In cool low humid conditions, you'd be at least .3 and 2mph quicker. If the baro pressure was high and made for sea level air density, you'd probably be .5-.6 and 4mph+ faster. IMO, it's a waste to run an NA car in temps warmer than mid 70s. The conditions just don't favor the car.
