Default Smallest size wheels that can fit on a Brembo Z

Ok, so I have been searching around these forums and found some mixed reviews from a number of different people on different wheel sizes for Brembo cars.

I'm looking to put a set of MT E/T street radials on the car, preferably a 10.5" and i've read some people saying they can get away with 16" wheels and others saying the smallest you can go is a 17" wheel.

I have no interest in removing my rear Brembo calipers since my car is still a street car.

Wondering what you guys with Brembos setups are actually running and having success with. Failures too.

I ran 16" Z32 wheels in the REAR with my Brembos, just had to shave a touch of the "spline" from the casting on the inside of the wheel. Other guys run RX7 FD 16" wheels in the rear. So, to ATQ, some 16s can work.

Lots more talk about this in these two threads:

ya 16"s clear. I swapped my rear brembo with 03 stock brakes. absolutely no difference in stopping power. unlimited choice in rear tires.

the hard part is the fronts. you need a 17" skinny and there are no cheap rim options for that.

16" rx7 FD wheels fit perfectly with a 1/4" or 5mm spacer. No shaving or anything and the things weigh something silly like 12 lbs.

There are 2 versions of the FD wheels which look the same but the back of the spokes are a little different. The older version is lighter but more fragile, while the newer one is couple of lbs heavier but stronger.

Thanks guys for the help... I will search more into the 16" options. That would be a nice way to go.

I bought some 16" Welds years ago that fit over my Brembos. All I know back spacing is 5", don't even know how wide they are.

When I spoke to Weld they said the same thing about 16" with a 5mm spacer but alot of people with Brembos have said 17's were the smallest. I have dealt with Weld before and always been pleased, but was concerned with so many objections. Sounds like a number of people are getting away with 16's, and that will work for me well.

Thank you everyone for your input!

The only people who insist 16's don't work with Brembos used the wrong 16" wheels or are misinformed.

Don't take any drag/wheel advice from 90% of these jokers.

Yep, I have the older lighter ones. Out of 4, 2 of them were cracked badly. The 'good' 2 are still holding up for me. The original owner probably hit something.
