Question Full gas tank when racing?

Sorry if this post is a repeat, but I've got a question. How full should the gas tank be when drag racing? I know that an almost empty tank will make the car lighter and quicker. However, a full gas tank will increase the weight over the rear wheels, which should improve traction off the line by reducing wheel spin. So which is better, an empty tank for quicker acceleration, or a full tank for improved launch?

Adding weight would not be my solution to traction problems.

Traction can be improved by better tires, suspension etc, weight is precious imho and is one of the best and cheapest ways to get faster times.

I run 1/4 in the tank.

Thanks. That does makes sense. Otherwise, I guess people would be putting sandbags in their trunk to improve their launch!

Word of advice-LBS slows your car down. So keep it as light as possible.

Heck I ran last week without the spare, and with 1/4 tank and got my worst times for some reason. Two weeks before that I had a 1/2 tank of gas and the spare was in and I ran quick...well, quick for stock.

Yes, I know it played a major role. It has been hot and humid.

take out everything you can spare, rear mat, tools, your folders and books, 1/4 tank of gas or less

rule of thumb is every 100lbs = 10hp= .01 a second off your time.

you can easily save 100lbs off your car from pulling out the junk

you dont need weight over the wheels as when you hit the throttle it shifts weight to the back and adds traction in that way

the car kinda squats so it kinda transfers weight

hope this he;ps
