Default Dollars for OEM Shifter **** Removal

Hi Guys,

I recently picked up a Forged Performance Shifter **** but have yet to install it. I had a look at the DIY guide but don't want to chance doing this. I took my car in for an oil change to Agincourt Nissan and they agreed to take my OEM **** off. I guess they ran into some issues trying to get it off and have now refused. They said that some Zed's stock shifter is easier in some while harder in others to remove.

That said, does anyone know anyone that has had success removing stubborn OEM shifter *****? I would be willing to give some dollars for their help.

thanks

HA! dude, I had the hardest time with mine..
I can give you a hand if I am free this weekend..
But all you really need are..:
-Rubber Pipe wrench
-Largest set of vice grips you can find.. and just give'ER!

Follow the DIY and you should be fine..

Edit: Great choice on shift *****, you will be very pleased.

I watched Dave at F/T remove mine by putting a rag on both sides and using a large adjustable wrench to break the lock-tite and then just unscrew it. You may mark up the leather very slightly depending how hardit is to get off.

is really easy, is just that it takes some elbow grease and you need two people to do it.

Get a large vice grip, take out the shifter piece to expose the shifter. wrap it with something so when you lock the vice grip to the shifter it will not scratch etc. One person hold the vice grip tight and make sure that it is not twisting with the shifter. the other person just counter twist the shifter itself and voila.

Yeah, it took two of us to take mine off.

^ I used his method to remove mine.

My 05' shifter seems like it wouldn't come loose at first (lefty loosey, righty tighty)
I was to a point where it wouldn't twist anymore cause the boot was twisted up so i turned it back to the right (I gave up) then changed my mind and twisted it back to the left and boom it's off.

Hey Church,

I may take you up on your offer... unfortunately I don't have the tools you mentioned but might be able to get my hands on them. Can you suggest a local shop that maybe able to help? This whole shifter **** thing is giving me a headache - jezz the ***** on my previous cars just screwed off. I'm friggen tired of saying **** but my FN **** is a tight biatch.

Default Success...

Well after getting a good nights sleep I woke up fresh and ready to do battle with my **** . Without any tools(because I don't have none)I took the brute strength approach. It was the like the sword in the stone... David vs Goliath... Rocky vs Ivan Drago. After three rounds of grip pull/twist I heard the crack and the **** was down for the count. I had done what a skinny 140 pound service technician for Nissan failed to do.

Yes, I had slain the best... the end.

did you vice grip the shifter shaft before you twist and turned? Though i think the transmission can take the abuse...but glad you got it off without destroying the shift ****.

No worries at all!
I just remember my ordeal with the dam shift ****.. I had about a pinky nail size drop of loctite on mine... those bastards at the nissan factory!

When you get used to the FP ****, you will love it

OH good point.. As a precaution I would check the shaft for play.. if you notice any, just twist it clockwise until it fits snug.

The shifter shaft feels snug... I used my left hand to secure the shaft while my right hand went to work on the ****... jezz that sounded bad. I gave the **** a few hard twists. Still didn't budge... basically went to a two hand grip and gave it everything I had and the bastard finally gave way. I could see the blue loctite on the threads of the stock ****.

I love the look and feel of the Forged Performance ****. At first I was "wow it's small" but it's really ergonomically friendly. I'm head'n to Brampton today to visit my parents and can't wait to see have it feels switching through the gears.

thanks again for all your support
