yesterday, i was driving on the road..and all of a sudden i saw the oil pressure gauge....and when i speed up, the oil pressure increases...when i up shift, the oil pressure decreases......

is it normal?? i no nothing about oil pressure..... i thought the oil pressure is supposed to be staying steady ....

LOL @ this thread

OP, oil pressure goes linearly with your rpm. Why? Because higher RPM has higher oil pressure!

Sort of.

The reason your oil pressure goes up is the pump is directly driven from the crank, so it produces flow based on engine speed. At idle your engine is only turning 800rpm so the pressure is lower than at 7000 rpm. The oil pump has a relief valve that opens up at a certain pressure so it doesn't continue to build and build. There will be a particular RPM where the relief valve opens and the pressure would be steady from that point forward probably around 4500rpm or something like that. Think of how a turbo works, no boost at idle, then boost builds and waste gate opens and pressure is steady after a certain RPM. Same idea.

So at idle the pressure is probably 20psi or so, then 4500rpm it would max out at 80psi and be steady from there because the relief valve would bleed excess oil back to the pan to maintain pressure once it hit a max amount.

its normal, after some driving, its possible to notice ur fuel decreasing, this is indicated by a very subtle movement on the fuel gauge from F to E, thats is also expected.

edit: manually adjusting ur rear view mirror can cause alterations to the visibility settings set by ur dealer, incase u move it beyond your visibility range, visit ur dealer with code no,: 1m-a-n008

hope this helps

^Not everyone is mechanically inclined.

Most people in the Canadian forums are business class people who wants to buy a nice sports car. Unlike in the states where it's all kids buying a car since it's half the price of Canada.
