Question Total Gains???

Hi guys, I am about to ask a question that would just seem pretty general, but here it goes and I hope I dont get hated on.

Before I drop about 3.5k into my car I would just like to get some opinions on what my final power gains would end up being. This way I will see if it is worth it, (even though my dad will help me out, I hate to just throw away his money) so any advice would be extreamly appreciated. So Far I have the Nismo Intake, Stillen Exhaust, and Nismo Grounding kit (which i dont know if it even does anything) probably adding about 10-15hp at the wheels.

What I plan on getting would be: Nismo Headers, UR Ultra SS Pulley, Nismo Cams, and Nismo Flywheel.

Thank you for looking into this for me!!!

P.S. Im kinda partial on the Plenum at this point, I'll probably hold out on that until the very end so please dont include that on the power gains, just assume I'm keeping my stock one for now, Thankx

hmm i doubt with your intake, exhaust and grounding kit you're getting 10-15rwhp
probably more like 10 because the grounding kit and intake don't really actually do much for hp

why spend the labor to install the flywheel if you're not also going to do the clutch?

cams really aren't the greatest gain/power mod unless you already have other stuff done.

I think you're better off getting the crawford package, UR pulley, get it installed, then either save the other $600 or look into getting an ECU flash

if you really want cams - really decide if you want the nismo cams, tomei cams, or wait and see what crawford comes up with - are you staying NA?

I'd for sure upgrade the cats and plenum. The headers, I'd either get DC headers if you're looking to save a lot of money, or get the crawford or alphaworks headers if you're looking for the best out there. Nismo headers seem like not the greatest header for your money

that's my opinion

I will get the Flywheel along with the clutch dicsc and cover from Nismo, the only reason why I didnt put the clutch in the post was because it doesn't do anything for power.

The only way you will know for sure what the impact of those mods will be is if you have a base dyno to compare against. Did you dyno before you installed the mods you have now? 10-15hp for the Stillen exhaust and NISMO intake seems a bit much, but you will never know for sure unless you did a before/after dyno comparison.

Dyno now, and dyno again (on the same machine) after you've done the new mods. You will be able to accurately measure the impact of those mods. I am having the flywheel installed next week, and I will have a before and after dyno to compare, so I will know how much impact the NISMO flywheel has. I did not do a base dyno before I did all my other mods, so I don't know if my current 276hp is good or bad. It all depends on what it was before the mods, and now I will never know. I did a before and after on the UR crank pulley and it gave me an extra 8 hp.

Before the pulley:

After the pulley:

I really need to do a dyno run with all stock. i might just take off my components and put back onthe stock pieces and do a dyno run. How much do they cost if you know off the top of ur head, thankx.

The info I go t for the stillen exhaust was from http://www.stillen.com/media_files/a...0000000007.pdf They seemed to do a really good job at their dyno run in terms of getting rid of all the variables. And they posted the stillen giving an extra 8hp, and thankyou guys for all ur input so far.

I guess my goal is to get as much HP i can keeping it NA and to not increase the size of the engine.

A dyno can run you as little as $45 and as much as $100. You need to shop around. If you have a local Z club they may have suggestions. The 350Z Club of Florida has a deal for 3 runs for $45 here in Tampa.

You also need to remember that comparing your numbers against anyone else's numbers done on a different dyno machine is pointless. A car magazine did a test taking a bone stock Z to six different places to have it dynoed, and guess what? They got six different numbers, with the extremes varying 30hp!!!! So, if someone gets 8hp from a mod in a dyno (like I did), that doesn't mean you too will get 8p. You could get 10. You could lose a couple. The only meaningful comparison is your car against your car with mods done on the exact same machine. Any other comparison is a waste of time.

Look for the new Crawford package to be released. That is if he is satisfied enough with it to release it. Crawfords target rwhp is 300. Sounds delicious to me for NA.

Do you have any idea what he will be incorporating in the package?

don't forget getting all dyno results in sae-corrected mode so you can compare pulls from one day to the next.

LOL. Do you seriously still think that they've only provided one dyno?

What I don't understand, is why all of you guy's are so skeptical, yet, when a company offers to pay for everything to prove it, hardly anyone will step up. Either quit fussing or prove them wrong.

BTW, Crawford has only provided TWO dyno's of their headers.

As Armitage mentioned in another thread, God himself could post the dyno and we would still have skeptics.

i've only seen one header dyno, on a stock z, and i check the boards daily. They've been promising more but have produced nada.
Crawford is a known quantity; they post here all the time instead of hiring some marketing company to pitch their product to us.

Nexus is the distributor, not the marketing company.

The dyno they show on the site is of COJ_General's dyno, that was on one of the hottest days just to prove the mod would gain power in the worst conditions. MetalZ is also about to dyno to see what gains he gets. They don't have to prove it more than once, BUT, they are taking the EXTRA step, to get YOUR sale, which that speaks VOLUMES imo.

Crawford may post here all the time. But if you do a search, you will find all of TWO dyno's.

My prediction, based on all the other dynos I've seen, would be in the mid 270's at the wheels with the mods you have on your list.
