Just think of the horsepower gains that could have been seen with a 30 Amp Fuse!!

Great job Jesse..........you have saved a ton of people from getting ripped off by this company. Thanks!!

I sure hope that people reading this thread don't get the idea that the lesson learned here is that a grounding kit makes a difference. That's NOT the lesson here.

But as long as we're on the subject, there are more people who believe in alien visitation than there are people who believe that grounding kits work.

That is definately not the lesson here, but that is how K&G managed to pull it off, at least for the short time while it lasted, and the reason it is still successfully selling in Japan... which brings me to my next point - we need to expose this to the public in Japan.

I wonder how much $ they have made off of this scam?

No money has been made on this in the United States since every customer will receive a full refund including shipping charges. However, in Japan, they are making money to this day, for well over a year now.

What really gets me is that Kuwano (the company that makes these rip off parts) sells an even more expensive version which costs $450 on their Japanese site!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

They even say in the Q&A section of their website:

Although the R&D on these units was expensive due to the difficulty of selecting just the right length of cables/cable covering and finding the perfect way to wind the cables, we strive to keep the prices low on these units by building the units as simply as possible. We focuse on the components within rather than what the units look like.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

What a bunch of BS!! The compents inside can't cost more than $1! Talk about profit!

In reference to your comment, hmm, you could always see if a college japanese class or a college prop who teachs japanese would translate it for you if they try that line of BS.

Secondly, Jessie, in regards to your cursade part on the webpage. A good way to expose this info I think would be to get it in a magazine. Both Import Tuner and Sport Compact Car have a "Webside" section where they post good websites they can't afford to miss. Maybe one of us should sne them your website. I'd say it qualifies as, in their words, one we can't afford to miss." If you don't have the time, I can send it in and see if they publish your site.

The reason K&G was able to pull it off is NOT because the unit acts as an additional ground. The reason is because many people are willing to suspend disbelief because they want to believe (against all logic) that something like this might in fact unleash magic from their car's engine.

The high end audio industry is FULL of stuff like this.

By exposing a fraud like this, je has saved some people from making a bad purchase. Nice work. OTOH, don't be suprised to find that there's another group of people who really don't want to know that it's a bunch of hooey and would prefer to hold to tried and true reasoning such as "yeah, I know there's absolutely no logical explanation for it but my car sure felt smoother after the install". Call it "grounding kit syndrome" perhaps.

Wow. I haven't popped over here for a few days. Jesse, you are a god! I'm so glad I thought to bring this product to the attention to forum members here and that you guys got to the bottom of it so quickly. I doubt if anyone on FreahAlloy has even heard of the thing, but I'll be sure to spread the word there.

Thank you MustGoFastR for bringing the product to our attention. If you've got any other questionable products out there, I'll gladly test them out too. I'm keeping the little K&G sticker on my computer monitor as a kill, similar to how the pilots in WWII had japanese flags on their airplanes for everyone they shot down.

Swapped,

if you would send that info to the magazine that would be cool. I wouldn't know where to go to do something like that anyways. I'm not really into the Import Tuner scene.

Better do it quick though because the hourly bandwidth limit on that site is getting eaten up quickly. The page is at 5,345 hits as of when I started writing this post.

If they try that, I'd be more than happy to translate it (Fluent Japanese).

On the DPS official site: http://www.directpowersystem.com, now it has the following message: "Direct Power Systems, USA sales closed until further notice. More information coming soon...
- Staff"

Unfortunately, Jesse's Tripod site is also down! Or is it suspended? http://dps_is_a_scam.tripod.com/

Well, I just called K&G's number in Japan--011-81-593-88-8897--and it's real. I just faxed over a complaint letter them. Maybe we can get these guys to stop selling it in Japan if we make enough noise--fax them if you have the time!

I'll contact Japanese tuner magazines later today as well with the information from this site. I doubt it's going to do much, however, because Japanese magazines publish articles based on advertisement revenue they receive from companies. I'm sure they wouldn't want to write an article that bashes one of their advertisers. But I'll give it a shot anyway.

spf4000, you da man.

I wonder if these guys speak English. It wouldn't do much good to fax something in English if they can't read it.

I recommend sending simple faxes in English, like:

"DPS is a scam!" "Stop selling DPS!" "Die, DPS, Die!"

Someone over there should know enough English to understand that. Plus, if they don't understand, I'm sure they'll send them to their overseas sales division, where they should have someone who speaks English.
