Is the Cusco and OS Giken the same unit or are they two separate LSDs?

Yes, there is a specific Cusco RS for the 5AT application. For the ATS, they say on their site you have to swap to the 6mt pumpkin.

The part no for the Cusco RS 1.5way for 5AT is
Cusco RS-1.5way/R LSD 252 L15 350Z AT5speed

well if you dont want the lsd to lock, you put the clutch in, with an auto i dont know how well it would work, 1.5 maybe be the best bet with an auto

*update*

well i finally did it. i got the LSD installed at Technosquare with the LSD cooler.. WOW. i had the stock viscous LSD in my Z before and i had the new one set at 60% lock.. its so freakin quiet. its just like stock.

handling: i gotta get use to this. on the turns with some acceleration it sticks pretty good!!! although the VSC kicked in a few times, i gotta keep reminding me to turn it off when i drive now.. once i get past the break in period, i'll post a more detailed review. but yea.. i couldnt be happier!!

i used Mobil1 75w90 synthetic gear oil with my install..

"I told ya so"

make sure to switch that fluid out after around 1000 miles and fill it with fresh stuff =- fromt here on out, I do mine every 20k or so, though it depends how hard you are on the car (lots of track use=more frequent changes). I'm using the Ford Racing stuff now...85/140 (for track use) and it's amazingly smooth

can you give me the address and name of guy you took it to? anyway, nice review, im still thinking between cusco and the nismo, nismo only cause the service guy said they would install it no problem. im not too worried about noise, but i would like to ride in a car that has both and check it out.

I took it to TechnoSquare Inc. in Torrance. No problem with install. it was a direct bolt in- if you have the base model.. then get the nismo one cuz it comes with the stubs i think.

Techno sponsors me so my labor costs are a bit cheaper than say a normal customer.... you should expect to pay around 3xx depending on what you want done to it. Changing the % lock and such... i think the cusco comes 100% lock from factory which is crazy...They do REALLY good work tho-worth the $$ for peace of mind.

Howard and Richey are the owners/mechanics.

install was less than three or four hours.. i had them change my oil too so it might had added to some more time..

i just came back from my figure 8s.. i found this industrial parkway next to Crenshaw in torrance and did about 15 minutes of tight tight and loose circles. omg. i got kinda dizzy. and my friend in the car that was helping me look for cops almost lost his cookies. we were doing 15mph circles and then switched directions. I notice the moment of rotation was right at the shoulder area, slightly behind the shifter. almost where the center cup holder/ rear cig lighter is and i just kept looking around and around.. maybe i shouldnt have looked down cuz i istill feel kinda dizzy as i type this..

Then I Followed Crenshaw blvd ALL the way up to Palos Verde and boy was that windy road up there awesome!!! i really feel a difference on the decel and turn in speeds.. There are alot of sweepers there and i accelerated on a sweeping turn and that rear is planted! I feel like it wiggles a little right at the beginning of the turn bit but then it catchs and grip..... i can see how the LSD would benefit in a drift situation here.. I did notice tire scrubbing on low-speed drive way/parking spot entrances, but NO GRINDING NOISES!!! I was driving the whole time with VDC off. i think it would have kicked in alot more with it ON, so :\ just gotta be careful in the rain...
i've put about 30 miles on the Z tonight and around 30 yesterday. i think a few more miles tomorrow and i'll be set for saturday.

I was hoping i didn't have to do that, but i guess i'll look for the same area to do some 8's. Maybe take some dramamine before i go. Were you down by the refinary or closer to the airport? Any interesting effects of decel on throttle off? That was my main concern if i decel at the wrong time. Watch out up there in RPV, lots of cops.
