Question Oil changes

I wanted to know where most of you do your oil change.
Do you do it yourself or do you take it to the dealership or a garage you know. I just bought my car and I am wondering if the dealership will charge me a arm and a leg for an oil change. I know a local goodyear owner but I am not sure if I want him working on my Z.

I just wanted to get some forum members opinions. Also How many change there own oil.

by the way I live in seattle area so if you have any shops in mind let me know.

thanks

I can change my oil, do it for older cars, but with the Z I just take it to the dealer because it costs 25 bucks, takes less than half an hour and I can have it documented with receipts for any reason

It's cheaper to do it yourself, 10 bucks?
I just hate jacking up the car, getting under it and discarding the oil so I just swing by the dealers.

I take it in to Nissan, I don't want to deal with doing it myself. I wouldn't take it anywhere else to get it done.

The Z is so easy to change the oil. My first time it took 30 minutes, but the second time will be only about 15 or 20 minutes. It's feel great to did your own oil change

Thanks for all the replies. I think this is something I will try to do myself. Also this will definetly give me piece of mind. Also Is there any special tools needed. Question I have would be what size metric wrench I would need, also any Tip on changing the oil.
I think My first purchase will be some Ramps

Exactly, though after boosting only trusted "certain" shops even with such a simple deed.

But the other week I did it on my own, like you said... Can be a pain to get under there, but something about not worrying about some "guy" in my car makes me feel better

Though if still stock, oh yeah dealership oil changes.

The fastest way to get to the filter is with your arm. I have yet to remove anything but the oil drain bolt and the filter. If you have troubles getting the filter to budge a poke long screw driver into the filter to get some more leverage.

Well yeah, but after a couple of times you will get alot quicker at it. Also if you can get your hands on that Nissan filter wrench adapter you will be in good shape... Though next best thing is going to your local auto store and getting the correct sized filter removal tools... Or do what I did the other weekend cause I got the wrong sized one (filter tool), hammer in a flat head screw driver into the end of the filter then use that as your leverage to take the filter off (old school lol)... Was kinda fun but a mess to clean up.

I take mine to the dealer as well. Performance Nissan is awesome. I use their genuine oil filter with motul 300w race oil... makes the car run really smooth.
