Default Benefits of reflash with mods?

Would it be worth it to get a reflash with these mods? How much of a difference would it make compared to not doing it? (I already searched)

the below link is to a thread that i started after i got my ecu reflashed. i was very disappointed w/the results for the price i paid. i wouldn't do it...but then there are those who have been quite satisfied. i would just search and read as many personal experiences as possible. also, you need to think about what you have planned for the future w/the car, i.e. FI or more NA mods. good luck w/the car whichever way you decide to go

Do you have any dyno numbers with a/f for your current set-up? I always tell people to check their a/f with a wideband, if your lean which you probobly are then a reflash would do you well. I sent my lean dyno graph and a/f plot to Technosquare and when I got it back I redyno'd I picked up 9whp, 12 ft/lbs and a/f went from over 15:1 lean in spots to 13:1 across the board. I couldnt be happier with my reflash. So check your a/f if its off then do it, if its ok, then dont worry about it.

BluZee,

In my opinion there is a significant benefit to having a reflash. However, that being said it depends like Abstrakt said above whether you are going to stay NA or go FI. My car is NA and I waited until I got my NA mods before getting the reflash. That is what I recommend for NA cars. That way it can be specific to your mods.

Prior to getting the reflash my car did not idle very well. After I got my plenum the idle would bounce up and down between 500 and 900 rpms when I stopped at a stoplight or just let the car run. The idle was worse when the the outside temperature was warmer and the AC was on. After the reflash it idles like stock. Also I think the reflash helps all the mods work together. I know it is expensive, but I see it as the icing on the cake of NA mods. My car runs much smoother after the reflash.

It also appears to me that for cars built after 2004.5 change in the ECU don't respond as well to the reflash. My car is an 03 built in November 2002. I don't have any data on this theory just my observation from opinions posted here about the reflash. I know that the 2004.5 and after ECU was tougher to crack.

Since your car is an auto you might want to see how others with an auto trans like the reflash too.

Thanks guys. With my current setup the car put down 235rwhp, 235rwtq. Their a/f ratio setup was not working that day. Im thinking that I just want to do a few more NA mods for now, then maybe the SGP valve body upgrade (when its available). Down the road I might be going for a T'netics ST but that includes a reflash anyways. (I would just lose the cats and maybe the headers). Any other thoughts.

Based on your mods, that dyno number you got seems really low to me. I would think you should have gotten a better number than that.

If his car has an auto tranny that would explain why the numbers are slightly lower. That would be expected with more drivetrain loss.

If you are in an automatic (I am too, but in the G35 Coupe), what gear did they use to get these numbers? I've been told that you should do it in 3rd gear. Is this right?

The spacer definitely would have helped a bit, however you still have a nice collection of mods. I think I would go back (as money allows) and try it again.

They used 4th gear. Ive always been told that you use 4th for the 5AT and 5th for the 6MT.

Im wondering about all this because I after I installed the plenum spacer I went to the track and ran slower. It was similiar conditions to my best night and I ran a good .4 seconds slower.
