Default replacing my clutch

hey i was going to replace my clutch but it turns out it will cost me 1400 dollars to replace my clutch at nissan so i thought i can get a mechanic to do the job but anyways the stock nissan clutch was way to expensive and i have a friend that can get me a brand new clutch from a G35 for a lot cheaper, now my question is if anyone knows that if the g35 clutch will work on my Z, i figured it would since they are pratically the same car but if any one knows for sure that would cool.

Consider buying the clutch from Nissan, and having a reputable shop (other than Nissan) install it.

My Z is at the dealership now for clutch/flywheel replace.
Labor was 505.00 and as long as I know Nissan stock clutch is alot cheaper then aftermarket according to Performance webste price. (mynismo.com)
I don't know what your dealer is thinking about...

If your car is under 30,000 miles, the clutch is still under warrenty, I don't know how that works or what type of magic you have to perform to get that. Nissan warrenty is not that friendly to 350z.

Thats correct. Clutches are only replaced if the clutch is found to be faulty. They are not replaced under regular or improper use.

clutch is a wear item like brake pads and wiper blades......unless a spring on hte clutch disc fails or the pressure plate breaks (even then they will probably blame the failure on driving style........you have to play your cards just right to get a clutch replaced under warranty...... they will turn it down pretty much unless it fails right away.

I just had my clutch replaced for 305 bucks in labor @ clutch doctors.

Of course I put in an expensive ATS twin carbon clutch, so the total bill was a bit more... But 300 bucks in labor is pretty cheap.

My stock clutch only has 7000 miles on it... (Sitting in a box now.)

Maybe you can get a used one with low miliage... Lots of people have done clutch replacements around here.

$500 is okay for a clutch job....with that said, I wouldn't spend that much money on a stock clutch tho. I think its a rip off. We have a ACT street disc here for much cheaper if you are interested.

Thanks,
Tom
