I have never buned more than 1/2 a quart within a 3K-4K mile range of Mobil 1 Synthetic. Most of the time its 1/4 quart or less, I love how this motor burns no oil. Im at 53K miles now BTW....

I guess the good thing about that is that you never have to change the oil. Just keeping topping it off. It will always have fresh oil.

Oil consumption varies from oil brand to oil brand and depends on the use. It is normal to burn some oil inbetween changes. Internal combustion engines burn a little amount of oil each time the piston moves back and forth. As long as oil consumption is constant, there shouldn't be any problems.

with mobil one I was burning a 1quart every oil change

with motul I am burning almost none (1/10 quart every oil change)

My first Z, 2003 enthusiast, no oil burning to 1/3 Qt between oil changes up to NNA buying back at 50K miles. This using Mobil 1.

Current Z, 2005 enthusiast, less than 3K miles ....... no burning yet

LOL i guess i dont need the oil change just top off like mentioned. But I do use Mobile 1 10W-30 weight. And i have an extra quart in my car just to be safe. it is kind of odd that it goes through that much, but i REALLY drive my car hard thats why im not so concerned

I used to burn 1 qt per 3k miles oil change.

After gone F/I, 1 1/2 qt per 1.5k miles oil change(my first oil change since F/I).

Same here. I have mobil 1 10w40 and lost about 1/2 qt since my last oil change about 1.5k miles ago.

Pretty much the same here.

I burn at least one quart every oil change. Mobil 1 10w30.

High rev engine braking (ie- heel n toe and such) will burn more oil. The piston rings depend on cylinder pressure to push them hard on the cylinder wall and scrub excess oil back down the oil pan.

When we’re off throttle, the injectors shutoff, no combustion occur and we end up with a little pressure in the combustion chamber. Oil stays on the cylinder wall and get everywhere in the combustion chamber. It’s then burned when we get back on throttle.

Different oil will also behave differently. Mobil 1 has a good reputation for “evaporating” between oil changes!
