i have a feeling you are not goiong to be able to find much info on it as i really doubt anyone has done it. has been a couple posts before like this and the conclusion basically being, it is not cost effective, compared to selling your present car and getting a manual car.

yes, just buy a manual tranny car, far cheaper, and it won't kill resale.

May I ask how old you are?

I've gone the route of swapping out an auto for manual... not on a Z. Trust me when I say it is not worth it at all... no way... no how! The only time it's worth it is when you have all the info and others have done it, etc. Even then it's a huge pain and it never just fits together the first time. I would rather do a complete engine reubuild than do a that again. I switched trannys on an old 4x4 Jeep Wagoneer that I was making into a rock crawler. In the end it turned out sweet but if I had to do it again I would have paid someone else to do it because I ended up spending soooooo much time! I could have worked some overtime here and there and been miles ahead and months further along. If you trade it your Z and get a used manual you'll be far ahead... maybe sell your Z outright to avoid going wholesale on the trade in.

Let me say again that you will kick yourself over and over again if you decide to go this route. And as someone mentioned, it will affect your trade in value... the VIN number will reflect an automatic and most folks and dealers run carfaxes which will bring up the big question about why and how... plus all the little parts you gotta get that you never think of... the dust boots and little retaining rings and even the hords of various bolts... good god. Please don't do it.

dont do it.... you might run into problems later on in the future. and plus why are you going to spend $5k+ for putting a manual in an auto Z? dont you save 1,200 if you get the manual when you buy the car new?

actually, when I bought mine, the autos were cheaper... I think. The only reason I could think of for someone wanting to go this route was if the car wasn't in their name. Hey if someone bought me a Z I might be bumbed with the auto and I sure wouldn't want to ask them to trade it in for me.
