Assuming all reputable vendors heat treat pulleys for maximum strength(?). I bet a tough finish increases durability. You certainly don't want them to wear at all (poor powder coating). Wouldn't polished or satin finish be the most durable?

i spoke to them earlier and they said the stock size crank pulley is under 2 lbs and it costs $125. then you can have it powdercoated any color you want for an extra $25.

A brandX pulley without its Vendor documenting their manufacturing or qualification process is risky. Breaking a belt could toast your $6k motor. There should be early warning cracks, so check it often.

Breaking a engine belt on the Z & G motor is not going to break the engine. If an engine belt broke you will have a hot engine because the water pump pulley will not circulating water anymore. Secondly a broken engine belt will drain the battery and you will soon have a dead car because the alternator will not be turning to recharge the batteries. Our engines have internal cam timing chains that are unaffected by broken engine belts. Toyotas and Honda on the other hand have belts to run their cam timing which are called timing belts. If a timing belt broke on one of these Hondas or Toyotas then you will have a very expensive $$$ repair bill.
