Default Cosworth heads

Anybody looked into these yet? I'm sure they cost a boatload, but I saw that they were showing them off at SEMA. Just curious to know if anyone had any info.

Sharif at ForgedInternals is carrying them. Good deal for fully reworked/revalved heads, and no core exchange required.

Is Cosworth really going to offer a crate engine as well or is that just rumor?

I won't be surprised if they do though since they have everything ready to go... just need to assemble their parts together... and make the engine work with a better management system... It will be great to see that!

cheers,

richie

We are a Cosworth distributor, and have reserved the first 4 sets of Cosworth heads for customers. The specs are impressive, and the cost is very reasonable, considering the parts included, and the R&D expertise behind Cosworth.

Here are some basics:

New OEM casting (no core exchange, or chance of a bad core)
1.2mm oversized valves
Inconel Exhaust valves
Unshrouded valve, and combustion port shaping
5 AXIS CNC port/polsih.
Valve Seats and 5 Angle valve job
Dual Valve Springs
TI Retainers

The heads are completely assembled, and ready for your cams to be bolted on.

Pricing will be $4300/set but final price is TBD.

If you price out a typical full head build-up, you will realize you are getting a far superior product, for less money that it would cose to build up your own heads with Ferrea valvetrain components.

These heads will be going on my Stage III project block, Darton Sleeves 100mm pistons, 3.8L, with all the trimmings, capped with the Cosworth heads.

Not enough to justify the cost, unless you add another 1000rpms to your redline. the power from this will be mostly up top.

Is the chamber the same size as the OEM heads? Will you also be carrying the Cosworth pistons, rods, and cams?

It's difficult to answer this question accurately, as it depends on the cam selection, and the experience of the tuner, as well as the octane level of your fuel. I rough estimate would be a 30whp improvement.

Not enough to justify the cost, unless you add another 1000rpms to your redline. the power from this will be mostly up top.
You are correct, in that a 7500-8000rpm redline would be most suitable, in order to harness the flow characteristics of the head. I suspect that most purchasers of the Cosworth heads will be the high boost FI crowd, as well as the select few NA individuals, that are looking for 300whp+ out of their engines.

Is the chamber the same size as the OEM heads? Will you also be carrying the Cosworth pistons, rods, and cams?
The finished chamber size will be slightly greater than stock, but they havent released the volume increases yet. The finished chamber size will vary, for those that are matching the Cosworth heads to oversized pistons. We will be carrying the full line of Cosworth components for the VQ35.
