Default Car running lean...

My Z's been running very lean lately..my exhaust tip is as clean as new...
I plan to take it to dyno, but I'm pretty damn sure the car is running lean.

My mods are JWT pop charger, 5/16 plenum spacer, and Nismo exhaust.

What additional mod will richen up my car besides ECU reflash?
I'm staying away from ECU reflash because of a bad experience in the past.
Unless I absolutely need it (ie header, F/I) I will not consider this option again.

Also, it seems like my pop charger is sucking in WAY too much air..

Prob only other option is a piggy back, like Utec. I just got my ecu back from AAM for a reflash, because mine was running lean after dyno. I haven't had a chance to redyno it yet... Can you tell me some of the negative experiences you had with a reflash?

Before you take a guess about the air:fuel ratio, have the car tested. The only way I know of to adjust air:fuel ratio is to program the ECU.

Anyone know how much for a reflash and whether it would be better to piggiback?
Also, which piggiback, e-manage ultimate, unichip, utec, etc is best?
Thanks

technosquare and aam standard reflash is about $600, but its more for a custom dyno tuned reflash (at aam anyhow). I wouldn't recommend going that route unless you aren't going to do any other performance mods and are able to bring your car to them to do it.

as for the piggybacks, the EU and UTEC seem to be the current favorites and I'd definately recommend the UTEC if you plan on going FI. however any of those options are pretty expensive when you account for dyno and tuning time. if you don't plan on ever going FI and are only concerned with getting your A/F corrected then I might go with the emanage blue and have an experienced shop dyno tune it for you.

thats a little scary...i was going to order myself a spacer soon also (i already have the pop charger and nismo) but if its gonna cause me to run so lean i need to mess with the ecu im not so sure anymore

im running rich right now, my tips get pretty black on the bottom side in about a week.

is this normal for his car to be lean after only these couple of mods?

I doubt that you would be running lean even with the addition of just a spacer. however if you added test pipes to that equation then you MIGHT end up lean. the thing is everyones car is going to run different. some guys do nearly all the bolt-on's and are still within a safe a/f range, it just depends. however you won't be taking advantage of the full potential of your bolt-on's w/o a proper tune.

I have a lot of AF bolt-on and my car run rich in normal driving but runs lean on the track. Black tips don't mean anything... My tips get black very quickly on the street, but after a few laps on the track they are white as new again.

My tips are black as he11 on my car, and I found that it's running lean as well, but that's under boost w/FI. So it's more about whether the car is running lean or not under load.
