Default Strut bar moved!.

After installing the plenum spacer, I installed the strut brace, and torqued all the bolts. About 2 weeks later you can see that the strut mounting bracket has shifted. Note the dirt where the bolts used to be.

With the spacers in place, there is little surface tension between the mounting bracket and sheet metal. The bracket rests on just 4 spacers. I checked the bolts and they are tight. Since the strut brace clears the plenum and hood, I’m going to leave well enough alone.

Sorry but I cant remember. I had a torque chart with bolt size, and used the recommended torque numbers.

those are not factory bolts I assume. As you raise the bar, I would recommend increasing the tension of the bar itself (essentially shortening it by the amount you raised it)

I adjusted the bar so that it clears the plenum. That puts a lot of stress on the end brackets and bolts (which came with the spacer). I’m concerned that the spacers are not as strong as the bolts. In other words, if I tighten the bolts, will the spacer crack.

I did not say to tighten the bolts...those bolts actually do not even get tightened very much at all (maybe 15-20 ft lbs?). What you need to do is tighten the brace itself - it is adjustable. How long are those bolts relative to stock?

+1 on adjusting the brace, put some load on it...iirc its a 7/8 or 1" wrench, or just use an adjustable wrench David.
