Default VQ30DETT Trans For VQ35DE???

Does anyone know if the VQ30DETT trans will work with the VQ35 motor??? The bellhousings should be the same right??? The clutch spline and all of that too right??? Anyone know if this will work. I know you would only have a 5 speed but if it helps with reliability then I think its worth it.

First off, there is no such thing as a Nissan VQ30DETT, unless you mean the NISMO built unit in the GT500 Super GT cars, in which case you would do just as well to call Quaiffe and have a custom dog box built. Second, if you want to pull a tranny off any other VQ, you're goinng to need to have somone import it from Japan unless you plan on turning your engine sideways and going front wheel drive. And then, even if someone was to import an obscure five speed for you, why do you think it will be any better than the tranny you have now? Are you trolling Japanese forums and have some evidence that it's a worthy upgrade?

Ooo..kinda harsh there dont you think?

People kind of assumes that the Nissan engines other than the SR20DET were twin turbo charged. The VQ30DET was a little known engine since they were mostly used in sedans versus the RB26series. Which everyone knows were DETT versions.

I am assuing that he thought that the VQ30DET trans would be more robust versus the VQ35DE because the 30 was from a boosted engine.

The VQ30DET trans is a 4 speed automatic. The VQ30DET out of a gloria, cedric, or i forgot what the japan maxima is called only came in automatic. Its probably not any stronger than the 4th-5th gen maxima automatic transmission which can support like 300 crank torque before slipping.

If you want a 5-speed manual you can use the 90-96 300zx transmission. It should be much stronger than the VQ35de 6-speed trans. I am pretty sure it fits but im sure someone else will come in and say it doesnt so look into that first.

VQ30DETT transmission probably cost more than your life so don't bother.

I assume he means the 300ZX TT trans guys.

BTW, little harsh there on responses. Can't we all just get along?

The 300zxtt used the RE4R03A 4 speed AT. The same as used in 90-96 Q45 310 lb/ft max sustained with torque reduction via ecu [ignition retard to zero] just before and during shift..... ramp up 500 ms after shift].

The Jatco R5 used in G, M, and Q since 2002 is rated at 333 lb/ft but under even more ecu control to reduce sudden power applications - drive by wire.
The Jatco power up version in the Titan and Qx56 might be a better choice?

Weighs less due to extensive use of aluminum gears.

The RE4 lasted 7-10 years [up to 200k] with the peak 280-300 lb/feet from Q engine with ATF exchanges, the RE5 only has 4 years experience to date.
